News Section nears completion - the great move approaches.

The news section of development has been completed except for permissions checks, importing of old news and posting of comments. These processes are expected to take 2-4 days. After this the only must convert piece of the current boards is the ad system, and this is expected to take about 2 weeks. Jelsoft also must release vbulletin 3.7 RC1 before I will convert production over. No timetable has been announced on that- but I expect to see the release within a month.

So with luck this old, ragged version of the software is finally, finally about to be put out to pasture. Many sections will then be converted piecemeal, starting with reviews. However, if development of these new sections goes as quickly as news did then I think I might be done before Gencon - a full 2 years and 10 months behind schedule. :(

What was the original projection? Did you forgot to add an arbitrary multiplier to it? You really have to do this in IT-Stuff. Starfleet Engineering might have perfected this technique ("Scotty, we need the Warp Engine in 4 hours!" - "But I need at least 6 hours. But I'll try my best." 3 hours later "Done, Sir. Engine is running!") in the 23rd century, but we're still in the 21th, so. First decide how long it should take based on your past experience. Then give a generous estimate based on this. Then multiply this estimate by at least by 2. And hope that your superior (if there are any) multiply this result again by at least 2 before giving it out to the public/contractors - just to be sure. ;)

I am eager to find out who this new EnWorld 2 will work in practice. ;)

Is it true that ENWorld2 will discontinue the personal hosted forums because of a license issue with the new software?

EN World 1 discontinued selling hosted forums about two years ago because of a licesne issue with the old software. EN World 2 won't change that. :)
