NFL FANS!!! -- How about that Draft?

First Post
I am a huge football fan, a big Pittsburgh Steeler fan (since 1972), a 15-year fantasy football commissioner, and I watched the live NFL draft, on NFL.com, my laptop, and ESPN on my TV running their live commentary.

(Note: I won't comment on the Ben Roethisberger issue. My heart [and much of Steeler Nation] is already saddened by all that stuff)

What do you think of all the trades in the first round? And did it feel more like a Hollywood show? They had drama, and there were some head-scratchers.

Good for the NFL, with all the recent bad publicity. (I know.... from my own beloved Steelers... It saddens me because the Roony family are good people.)

I like the Tim Tebow move into the 1st round by the Broncos. Josh McDaniels is banking his entire coaching career on that one pick. But I think it will pay off. A winner and a high character guy with huge physical skills and a smart football head? Tebow is a winner.

Finally, the Raiders didn't blow their 1st pick... he'll be a solid player for years to come.

WTF? Jacksonville takes Tyson Alualu? A huge reach at their position (10th); they could have traded back about 10-12 positions and gotten the same guy.

Any other thoughts from the other NFL fans out there?

I'm glad my Texans picked up a CB, but I'm not sure that CB was a good choice.

I hope a RB is in their top 3 picks, though.

I'm a long suffering Bengals fan, have won multiple fantasy league titles, and grew up friends with a professional football player (currently with the Giants, I was in his brother's wedding just last month, who I'm closer with).

Anyways, here are my thoughts:

LOL at the Denver Broncos. Tim Tebow? Really? He's not a pro quarterback and will be exposed if he even gets on the field. As for all the high character stuff that is thrown around, so what? That doesn't matter once you step inside the lines and can't produce. And as TJ said on the show, "They drafted a WR that reminded them of the WR they just had and traded?" All in all, I had a great time laughing at the Denver Broncos tonight.

Cincy did pretty much what they were expected to do, draft the best TE available. Can't complain, since everyone knew what we were going to do.

The Niners traded up two spots to take the same person they would have got had they stood pat, but I love the fact they drafted 2 OL.

The Steelers drafted smart (as normal) and took the position they needed most.

The only other thing that stood out was the Jacksonville pick, which they should have traded down and still picked him up.

Tebow is not a great player. As a Broncos fan, I was disappointed in the choice. At least they can bench him and groom him.
