Nifty Christmas gifts you've gotten

One year I got a Ukranian wishing urn, which was basically an elegant piggy bank with the added element that you've supposed to write a wish down and drop the slip of paper into the urn with your first coin, and then use the money when the urn is full to make the wish come true.

Any cool small gifts you've gotten? Maybe share some ideas for other folks to get their gamer friends.

I've gotten many nifty Christmas gifts over the years, but only one that I both loved and can still associate with the holiday: back in the mid-1970s, my parents gave me kittens (which is what I had asked for), a brother & sister Maine Coon cats.

Well, except for an Amazon giftcard taht I spent on gaming sttuff, I have not gotten any gaming related presents. I have spent many gift cards and cash presents on gaming though

Most years I give my self a gaming related present.

This year it was the Kindle Fire.

In gaming terms, my father got me the Special Edition 3.5 PHB, DMG & MM one Christmas (the paux black leather ones). He never really supported me gaming and at times looked down upon it, but I think he knew I enjoyed it at that is what really mattered.

Then there was the Death of Superman comic book. It was sold out all through town and I was told they couldn't get it. I still remember opening it. It was the last present my Dad brought out from behind the tree. It has silver wrapping paper, the thick high quality stuff. Within the white box nessled and centered within the red tissue paper, there it was. Black bagged book with the bloody red S staring back at me.

I know its worth squat now but I still have it unopened. That memory always comes around Christmas time.

Last year I got all of my players a six-part folder for each of their PCs. The cover had a picture of their PC and their name, and the folders had their character sheet, a chart of their attack rolls, a list of their equipment, descriptions of their class abilities and feats, and other stuff as appropriate (spellcasters had spell lists, there were familiar and/or animal companion stats for those who had them, the druid had a section with her stats when in various wildshapes, and so on).

The family we game with has a 5-year-old son (well, he was 5 last year) who "games" with us - he sits at the table and rolls dice, and we let him move a Star Wars mini around the maps as his character - so he got a six-part folder as well. His cover picture had a photo of his head attached to a halfling fighter's body, and his folder was filled with blank pages labeled "My Character," "My Weapons," "My Treasure," and so on, so he could draw all of his stuff.

It went over pretty well, and it was a big upgrade to what they had been using - loose sheets clipped in random order on clipboards. I continue to update their folder contents as the info changes.
