Nip/Tuck---it is now one of my faves...

The ftn4life@earthliink.net address has been rejecting my emails from Yahoo and from Gmail. I'll try to find your email address, Henry. Just to be clear, I feel no need to comment further, especially as I think we're all in agreement on the topic now anyway.

Am I the only one who thinks his name is "Huge Ackman?"

Reminds me of when The Times printed a birth notice for 'Hugh G Rection'

Dragging the thread back on topic I watched the first half of the first series when it aired in the UK. The impression I got from the show was that it was quite moralistic. It seemed that everytime somebody acted out of a selfish desire they soon got their comeuppance. It was a pity that I missed the second half of the series so I'm glad to hear that there will be a second series.

Just a comment on the show and 'giving it a chance' in general... If I had simply been disinterested by the various previews, teasers and promos I've seen for N/T since it premiered, this thread might have inspired me to give it a chance. But I've been far from disinterested. :\ Instead, every teaser, every "new season" spot, every "this week on" blurb, and especially those damned to the abyss super loud 'slideovers' that interupt the first few seconds of a show I'm actually trying to watch after the commercial break have filled me with a deep aversion to and loathing for the show.

Maybe the show isn't all about shallow people having meaningless sex and shock value operation scenes, but if the people who most want me to watch the show are going to present me with that image, what possible reason do I have to look deeper into it? I've got a full veiwing schedule as it is, and I've always been a fan of letting media folks be hoist on their own petard as far as advertising goes. If they actually manage to make something look worse than it is (as opposed to merely uninteresting) or lose my interest while scrambling for the lowest common denominator, I'm fine without them - they can do fine without me. :p

Just a random thought or three...

Agreed that the FX screen-corner ads (for *any* series) are hella annoying.

Some on-topic thoughts I've had kicking around since last season:
Just from seeing the ads, I had originally expected that the two main characters (Dr. Sean McNamara, Dr. Christian Troy) would fall neatly into a cliched Good-Doctor/Evil-Doctor pairing. In practice, however, while I'd peg Sean as Neutral Good, Christian seems firmly Chaotic Neutral. And Sean's a pretty wishy-washy, sometimes-ineffectual NG, while Christian's strongly and consciously committed to his hedonistic brand of CN. Furthermore, when put under intense stress (as happens pretty much every episode), Sean's morals and ethics often deteriorate, while it seems to me that Christian's tend to improve. Buit not always, which keeps it interesting. ;)

Just for the record, I am still not in agreement on the topic. I will not continue this discussion on this thread though, as both Henry, and Brother Shatterstone have expressed their wishes to keep peace in Enworld. However, I have some answers to your previous replies, including one in which you said that you were trying to break it to me GENTLY that I had no idea what I was talking about. I certainly did not see that as 'gently', but then, I don't know what I am talking about right? If you would like to continue this, you can email me at enchantress195@yahoo.com.

Sorry to both the moderators and posters for the disruption.

Outstanding episode last night, one of the best. I think tears welled up in my eyes four times, twice in joy and twice in sorrow. Amazingly well done television, absolutely on par with the best of the HBO series.

Gah, I missed this week's ep (for some odd reason I fell asleep at 6:30, woke up around 1am). Do they still air the previous week's ep on Monday nights?

Oh, and, yes, I'm a huge fan of the show, as is one of my co-workers.
