I dont know how many people out there work within the development sector (doesnt matter what industry, product development in general) but really, delays happen.

It doesnt mean they are short on manpower (anyone done studies on the "mythical man month"?), it doesnt mean there is a "shakeup" going on, it doesnt mean they are "slacking off".

Base fact is, with essentials and dsun, they had a much larger scope of work to achieve. Turned out this blew out resources for a time period. It happens, world wide, in every business that has ever existed!

Just take a breath, stop speculating and give them the time they need to produce a quality product. I think the team has shown themselves more than capable of producing quality products (generally 4e products have set the bar WELL over previous incarnations and competitor products) and we should simply rely on the fact that they will deliver again. They just need a bit more time.

Content looks even thinner next month. Pretty soon you won't need more than 1MB to store these "magazines".

I hope we are getting a major update, but I'm not holding my breath at all.

Overstaffing doesn't happen much any more outside of cost-plus contract jobs and privately-owned businesses that keep people on just because they are family. In this economy, it's the rare business that has more people than they really need, and the typical business is struggling to "do more with less". So if I had to guess, they are, in fact, short of staff.

Wonder if WotC has hired more freelancers to do Dragon/Dungeon Magazine articles.

Actually that's not entirely true. My employer specifically kept staff during the downturn with the expectation that by keeping staff, even if not fully utilized, when things turn around not only will we have a fully ramped up staff, morale will be higher than if they cut like they could have. Oh, we are a privately owned business but we're approx. 50,000 employees across the globe.
