No-Limit Texas Hold 'Em, Anyone?

John Crichton

First Post
I played my first game and learned the rules last year from some ENworlders whose names elude me. It was a pretty fun time. I know Steve Jung & Telfon Billy were at the table on the ground floor of the Embassey Suites.

Anyone interested or should we just shoot for "when the mood strikes." Of course that assumes someone will have cards and enough chips on hand... ;)

I am very interested, but my schedule is very full. If a game is organized when I have time, I would love to be included.

Wednesday evening, after some socializing at the Canadiana-stand-in, I would be up for a game...or Saturday evening after 5 and prior to Rel's game (which is at 8, IIRC).

I'd be up for some hold 'em as well. I could play Wed or Thurs evening. Are we betting dice? :)

Wednesday evening poker sounds good, although since I'm flying in I'm not liable to have my chips with me.

Well, I don't know what anyone else's idea is, but I am a fan of $5 per person, winner take all...rinse and repeat...

This keeps the stakes manageable, as anyone can step away after a game if they don't want to risk another $5 for the next game.

I figure that if we can get a half-dozen people at the table, then I can earn enough to pay for my gas to get back home after two games. ;)

I'm cool with any amount up to $25. And yeah, cash is the way to go, even if it's a little amount. Gotta have some stakes. :)

I say we should keep an eye on this space, keep posting open times (I'll round mine up ASAP) and then just meet. We can also put the game down at the ENworld booth under pick-up games. :) Too many people just means we have more tables of games going.

This is a good idea; I've played in games before where $20 bought you X amount of chips, then you played no-limit hold 'em until one person had all the chips and got all the money. We also played where the winner would get 70%, 2nd place got 20%, and third place 10%. It was fun. you never lost more than $20 and had a chance to win as much as $160.

Yeah, that's why I think the $5 buy-in is a good amount...especially for cash-strapped con-goers looking to purchase other things. I don't want to take all your money at once...
