No matter the system, no matter the setting published adventures might give you year long campaigns from a single seed of lore.

A single page of lore from an 80s adventure of Thieves' World gave me more than two years of political intrigued campaign with the story going places I would never anticipate.
That's why I love all of the published material, you never know where you will find you gem!

What is your own gem? Which system or adventure made total sense for you world/game?

I have been finding ideas online with some of the old maps and articles from Wizards, specifically while searching for Forgotten Realms and searching for one thing and getting ideas for another.

Hah that journey of seeking knowledge that eventually leads you to something else entirely is awesome. Maps and illustrations in general work for me as well, just seeing an image can spark a stolyline that I would love to explore with my players.

I once reskinned Ravenloft as the Baron Almeda. He became a notable villain in my campaign for some time before his final defeat. I too buy modules left and right but more often than not I cannibalize them and don't use them exactly as written
