Non Core in Dungeon?

Would you stop buying Dungeon if they tried a 1 AP, 1 core and 1 non-core model?

Don't worry, I'm not going to personally post very much in this thread. I haven't seen any polls on this so I thought I'd add one.

I just want to see if anyone would be upset with Dungeon magazine if their goal (in addition to keeping the magazine quality high of course) for adventures included 1 generic core adventure, 1 non-core (FR, Greyhawk, Incarnum, Psionic, etc) adventure and 1 AP adventure. This would just be a goal, it wouldn't have to be like this in every single issue.

Isn't this something you have brought up before? I seem to remember something along the same lines as this, perhaps a few times.

This one is a little bit different. It's been a couple of months since the last thread, and I will not..."monopolize" this one. I promise. :)

Depends.

Every month? No, not at all. Every once in a while, hell yes. I'd love to see some actual psionic adventures especially. Those are quite lacking.

I voted no, but I believe that Erik Mona and James Jacobs both said in past threads that it is about the quality and quantity of submissions. If there aren't enough non-core adventures that are of Dungeon's high standards, do you suggest that they only print 2 adventures?

I'm more interested in the artwork on the cover. :)

Blurbs on the cover that obscure the artwork actually reduce my odds of buying Dungeon.

That being said, occassionally a blurb can create interest. But the 5 new monsters and 7 new spells type of blurbs that you find on Dragon -- nope, don't care for those blurbs.

Give me an illustration of some iconic D&D character or a hot medieval female, or better yet, both. The illustration for the cover of Dungeon 143 was cool, but I could not tell which adventure that character was from.

But the blurbs "Who stole the Mask of Diamond Tears?" or "Foil the Great Train Robbery!" ... ummm, I'm not the target audience for them.

That doesn't mean that those types of adventures don't appeal to me. Just that you are unlikely to describe the adventure that appeals to me in under ten words.

A picture might do it, though.

That's the cover for possibly my favorite Dungeon issue of them all, and even that one has too many blurbs obscuring a cover that is very relevant to the primary adventure in the issue.

I know what you mean.

Can I go off on a tangent here? Kay, thanks.

The mask of Diamond Tears, while it sounds vaguely interesting. But not enough so to make me browse the issue when I first bought it.

Then I saw the adventure was about etherguants. Freakin ethergaunts finally get some airtime. And I would have missed it if I didn't have some spare time.

So for my money, a much better cover blurb than

Who stole the mask of diamond tears?

would have been

Freakin' Ethergaunts!!!!

Thanks for your attention in this matter.
