Non Core in Dungeon?

Would you stop buying Dungeon if they tried a 1 AP, 1 core and 1 non-core model?

Thank You

Thank you for the education. Neh...I am okay with the format. I mean so as long as with the AP and the Eberron ones they tell how to adapt it to other campaigns. In fact I'd love to see this and maybe more like 1 AP, 1 Core, 1 none core, 1-5 side trek and or cool encounters. Perhaps if you liked a module you can go online put your review on their website and perhaps drop some fan mail to the author of a module such as I am a fan of Dungeon 135...not for the ending for the Age of Worms AP....but for the module "Funeral Procession" as well as the one before that I can't remember the issue...set in FR....had PC's go to a ruin to find something and Yuan-ti were hinted in it I loved it I expanded on it an blended it to Funeral Procession later on....mind you Funeral Procession I had to bump it up since the PC's were higher level.

So for my money, a much better cover blurb than

Who stole the mask of diamond tears?

would have been

Freakin' Ethergaunts!!!!

Thanks for your attention in this matter.

Same reaction here. And to drive it home even further....

Freakin' Ethergaunts and Frakkin' Nerra!!!!

My answer to the question you asked is "no, I would not stop buying Dungeon".

My answer to the question you didn't ask, however, is "I prefer things the way they are now."

Hear, hear! I quite agree. The Dungeon mix is quite excellent right now as far as I'm concerned.

I'm a little confused, since Dungeon already includes material from non-core books. Theres a battle dancer from the Dragon compendium in a recent issue, and I recall a derro warlock among others.

I'm fine with any non-core item/feat/whatever, so long as the adventure doesnt hinge on its placement (ie, a plot that only makes sense if the main villain has the Crocodile Dentist feat), or if the rule is explained or a substitute offered.

There's two reasons we didn't mention ethergaunts on the cover.

1: The cover lines are for casual buyers at newsstands; buyers who aren't necessarilly the hard-core D&D fan. The word "ethergaunt" probably doesn't mean much to him.

2: I generaly try to avoid mentioning key monsters from the issue to avoid spoilers. The cover and blurbs spoil enough already to the casual player who glances over on the stack of magazines on the DM's shelf.

In any event, yes, there is an ethergaunt adventure in this issue.

The Mind Flayer I could handle, but this was the worst for us:

"Age of Worms
Death and
Doppelgangers"

Worst. Offense. Ever.

:P

I voted "No," but with that said, I think the current format is perfect. I don't need a "non-core" adventure every issue, a good generic adventure serves me just as well. I've liked reading the OA, psionic, and epic adventures recently published in Dungeon, not because they were OA, psionic, or epic adventures, but because they were really good adventures.
