You're misremembering.

(I'm pretty sure there is a posted e-mail (indirectly) answering this one somewhere on the rules board, but I don't have search.)
 

Detect Magic is Universal.

Using the line of reasoning that Non-detection only protects against Divinations results in it not working against Detect Magic.
 

see invis is divination, which prompts the person who has it trying to find a nondetected invisible creature to roll a caster level check.
