I wonder how many actually played it. Seems like it was on par with other "historical fantasy settings" like Green Ronin's mythic vistas series. Niche audience to be sure....

Last I saw, both books were indeed available.

Even if no one wants to run it as-is (although it's a great setting), it's full of great stuff to steal, especially if you're maxed-out on pseudo-European stuff.

I'm pretty sure Adamant has as well; at least, they aren't publishing any more Franklyn's Almanac issues. This is a real pity, as NC is one of my favorite d20 products and I would have loved to see more adventures published. Oh well, maybe one of these days when I learn me some web site publishing I'll post my own for free. Right after I make my Pulp Casablanca setting.

A couple of threads on it here three or four months ago.

The creator/author posted and said he was going back to grad school and wouldn't be doing NC stuff for a while.

He had begun (or was about to begin) work on a campaign setting "Boston".

He said he might still do it after grad school.

ADD: Witch Hunter and Soloman Kane are about to drop. If you like NC, either or both of them might scratch your itch.

Atlas Games never intended to issue more Northern Crown products -- that's why they gave the support license to Adamant. Two hardcovers wasn't enough for you? I put out two issues of the Franklyn's Almanack zine with Adamant, and they didn't move many copies. The decision not to publish any more Adamant material was mutual between Gareth Michael-Skarka and myself. I'm totally cool with it. Gareth is an hardcore fan of Northern Crown and wanted it to do well, obviously.

I did pen about 10,000 words on a Spectral Boston campaign expansion for Northern Crown, including a really sweet street-level map of Boston, but it's not in any publishable form. I may release what I have for free, as a thank-you to you Northern Crown fans out there.

Since then, work, school, and family has kept me out of the designer's chair, but I'm not out of RPGs by any means -- I've been developing tools to allow gamers to use Second Life as a virtual tabletop for traditional RPGs -- for free -- there's a link to screenshots in my sig file.

I find it a hopeful sign for the future of alt historical RPG settings to see the ENWorld thread on Witch Hunter, a game that features "colonial swashbuckling horror" set in the 17th century, complete with "natural philosophers" and "the Order of Solomon". I sincerely wish it success and humbly suggest that its fans plunder my books for compatible material!

Amen to that. I heart my Northern Crown.
