D&D 5E Nostrodomus: Predict Five Things about D&D in 2016

Things will proceed much as they are: two "storylines", each consisting of a single 250-ish page book; 0-1 supplements, probably FR-based; some news on the movie, but nothing game-changing; no OGL; no official electronic tools.

And there's a very real possibility that I'll play my last game of D&D, although for reasons entirely unconnected to WotC.

1. Someone else will get fired from WoTC
2. Rumors of 6th Edition will start
3. They will try to do something to salvage that train wreck of a video game
4. They will throw another bunch of Cease and Desist orders on people that make the game better for the masses
5. They will release something on UA that people freak out on because its "broken"

Not to sound cynical but probs some more books im just not interested in as i like crunch and despise fluff. Not to say there hasn't been some bits i have poached from the books my group has maybe 10pages or so form oota

At least two more versions of Ranger
Another dip into psionics for me to ignore
The 1st nonRealms published AP/Guide
An unhappy internet while sales continue to go strong

We will get a couple new storylines, but at least one of the adventures won't be a levels 1-15 behemoth.

A second Monster Manual looks likely.

I believe this is the year that they discover that most groups aren't able to consume the large adventures at the rate they are being released, leading to a broader focus on broadly consumable material.

1. There will still be lots of people online complaining that WOTC is doing the wrong thing, though there won't be a lot of agreement on what that right thing is, let alone what the wrong thing is.

2. Nothing else with as much certainty as #1

1. Ravenloft AP.

2. Grab-bag plane-hopping AP with a loose story arc and a ton of themed crunch.

3. Some kind of subscription service will emerge from the WotC brain trust.

4. Double-down on SCL. That's okay. With time and content, it'll get better.

5. My fifth prediction is more of same: more hand-wringing from fans, more confident product decisions from WotC (most of which will have already been made).

I think we’ll see either another regional SCAG-like book or an in-depth FR campaign sourcebook. The question is, would the "SCAG-like" be another section of the Realms, or a section of another setting like Eberron or Greyhawk?
