Not DnD | So You've Met a Thousand Year Old Vampire?

Are you a friend, a lover, food, or something else?

Throughout September, I'll be sharing solo ttrpgs for you to consider playing during spooky season next month on Not DnD.

This solo tabletop role-playing game is a direct sequel to the award-winning Thousand Year Old Vampire!

Currently live on backerkit, So You’ve Met a Thousand Year Old Vampire is a game about a regular (or not) person meeting an ancient, dangerous, intriguing being. This vampire may be driven by hunger, love, art, anger, despair, fear, the need to fill its years with meaning, or none of the above. That’s where you fit in. But how you fit, exactly, is what can only be learned through play. Are you a friend, a lover, food, or something else?

Join me later today as I speak with creator Tim Hutchings to find out more.

About Not DnD

Not DnD is a weekly show discussing tabletop roleplaying games. Each week EN Publishing’s @tabletopjess interviews the creators behind different tabletop roleplaying games that aren’t D&D!

You can watch the live recording every Monday at 5pm ET / 10pm BST on YouTube or Twitch, or catch up with the podcast platform of your choice by searching 'Not DnD'.

Still the first thing on his page. Regardless of your political ideology, such othering is the reason for most of the hateful and horrible things in our country right now. No one should support someone who has such disdain for others based on their political affiliation or because you believe in propaganda from MSNBC which is just as bad as FOX NEWS when it comes to ideological propaganda. As someone who despises both parties, I wouldn't want to buy anything from someone who said the same thing in relation to Democrats along this line. Do not support people or companies like this.

Mod Edit: removed political declaration.

This is not something discussed in the interview.

A reminder of the rules on the forums: Keep it civil, keep it clean, keep it on topic, keep it inclusive.

EN World is an inclusive community, and we encourage and welcome all people here. To that end, we strive to make it a welcoming place where nobody feels alienated because of who they are.
In the forums you MAY NOT use the terms "agenda", "ideology", "politics", or "propaganda" in relation to the inclusion of people slightly different to you in gaming products or other media, use pejorative terms and buzzwords or dogwhistles including but not limited to "social justice warrior", "political correctness", "wokeism", "virtue signalling", and "cancel culture" to dismiss the opinions of those you disagree with, or post any message which is discriminatory towards those who differ to you in terms of skin colour, gender, gender identification, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, age, religion, or any other personal attribute. We do not subscribe to the argument that tolerance means that we need to tolerate intolerance or that inclusivity means that we need to include non-inclusiveness.

Exactly, it is not discussed, but for full transparency, the author has, and still does, state his disdain for a portion of the customer base. They should be aware that of his opinions before deciding whether to support his work or not.

I understand the rules. I am no way seeking to create an argumentative space, only to highlight the publicly presented opinions of the author, as well as my own feelings on supporting creators whose first words on his own page are not inclusive. As I said, I would make the same warning if it was an interview with someone with the opposite political take who said similar things about the public.

"If you are a supporter of the right I am going to ask that you not buy my games. I don't want your money, but more importantly I don't want you to feel comfortable enjoying things produced by the people and systems you want to destroy. Yes, I mean members of cartoonishly evil hate groups, this includes Trump supporters too. You think the election was fixed and pandemic measures are bad? Stop listening to conservative radio. If you stand by quietly as Republicans take the power of the vote from African Americans and compete to hurt trans people as badly as possible then you are a bad person. You are lobbying for the death of my friends and relations, you are pushing for dangerous authoritarians to destroy the systems that let books like mine come to be. And this goes for equivalent groups outside the US–you know who you are."

Mod Note:

ENWorld has a pretty strict “no politics” policy. There are few exceptions. Even though the game designer espouses a fairly clear political position on their website, it isn’t actually incorporated into the game itself. As such, discussing it isn’t going to be granted an exemption.

At most, pointing out that the designer’s politics are front & center on their website would be permitted, not actually quoting it or discussing it. And because said position is prominently displayed on the designer’s website, we really don’t need to discuss it here for transparency- the designer has taken steps to make said position obvious.

Mod Note:

Best practice when dealing with posts that may violate ENWorld’s ToS is to report them. If you feel responding to them is absolutely necessary, quoting the problematic sections means more editing may be required; avoid that.
