Not Enough Anime in 4e, on to BESM!

As I mentioned earlier, I'm considering using BESM 3E instead of D&D 4E for my next Freeport game. I've been working on converting some races, classes, and monsters to BESM, and thought I'd share some of it:

* Races: http://unnamedfreeportproject.wikispaces.com/tag/view/besm3+races
* Classes: http://unnamedfreeportproject.wikispaces.com/tag/view/besm3+classes
* A sample character (my wife's paladin of the Pirate God): http://unnamedfreeportproject.wikispaces.com/Harissa+(BESM)

A couple caveats: 1) These templates were translated from D&D 3.5 [and the BESM (2E) Fantasy Bestiary] rather than 4E. 2) The class templates are designed for beginning adventurers (200 Points), because we're starting from (very roughly) the equivalent of 1st level.

It actually has it's own system of Sword World RPG, which from what I've played is pretty cool, but it is almost essentially "D&D only Japanese." It uses a mix of skill and class based mechanics, and uses - but has a slight twist on - the standard pick-three-classes system and just uses d6's, like you see a lot in jTTGs. It's unfortunately not translated into English (and I don't know of any plans to do so), but if you have someone who can read Japanese, it's pretty good.

As far as BESM/Tristat, it's fun, but very, very easy to accidentally break.

Really, it depends on what kind of game you want to play. "Anime" isn't a genre, after all ;p

My understanding is that Lodoss War and its Light Novels and "Replays" were based off of original Dungeons and Dragons sessions which Mizuno was in-THEN the popular Replays being published, and eventually Sword World (AKA Forcelia).

And if Mr Kenson hadn't designed anything in SAS d20, he took enough to mention it in the OGL of his work.

*shrug*

It's not listed in the first ed M&M book (unless I'm completely blind) which is what I've got. So unless Green Ronin dropped the ball and neglected to include it in the 1st Ed M&M (mine is a 2nd Printing) then I still say the link people are looking for isn't actually there.

If GR revised M&M to include SaSd20 stuff.... Ok.
