Legend
Today marked my next-to-last gaming session for a while, with next Sunday's session being the end of our campaign of 18 months -- or at least the end of my DMing it.
As some folks here may know, I'm an active-duty US military officer. I've spent the last 18 months as a full-time graduate student, so I've had a lot of free time to devote to gaming and our ongoing campaign ([shameless plug] Read about it at diaglo's story hour! [/shameless plug]). Unfortunately, all things come to an end eventually, and since I finished my degree this month, I'm off to further training, a new duty location, and my next assignment.
I'm leaving behind what is clearly one of the finest groups of gamers on the planet, for whom I've had the distinct honor of running a campaign for the past year and a half. They're a great group of guys, always supportive, tolerant of my mistakes, willing to indulge a bit of excess (like converting to 3.5 mid-campaign), and always having fun. Players have come and gone, and the pace of events has risen and fallen, but I've always felt appreciated and enjoyed my part in the game.
So to all who have played in this campaign -- Angelsboi, diaglo, JoeBlank, howandwhy99, biorph, Froof, the Jester, and a number who aren't EN Worlders: Thanks. You've been a very special and important part of my life. I wish you the best of games in times to come, in whatever campaigns you play. I hope to be able to make a guest appearance in the future, but if not, I'll always remember this particular group as a special one.
As a parting gift, the guys presented me with a pair of 6" ceramic d20s, one hollowed and filled with notes of fond wishes, crafted by EN World's own alsih20. Thanks, guys -- they'll have a place of honor.
'Till swords part!
