Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

Round 3, on Tommy's Initiative:

The cowering fire elemental trembles so much it loses its 'footing', as it were, and collapses on the greasy floor, much like its cohort.

Round 3, Tarag's movement:

Tarag moves, silent as a ghost, past the fire elementals towards Galwynn. As soon as he moves the first fire elemental stops trembling and begins to reform. But not fast enough, and Tarag slips by it without provoking an attack. The other elemental is also not yet formed, so Tarag makes it by that one as well. Unfortunately, when Tarag sets foot on Tommy's grease, he loses his own footing and slips wildly, doing a little backflip and landing painfully on the ground. (natural 1 on balance check) Galwynn is but an arm's length away, very reachable by the blacksmith cleric.

Round 4
Initiative:

Fiery3 (prone) (2 damage)
Fiery1 (prone) (5 damage)
Keldar
Galwynn (-6 HP)
Rapture
Tommy
Tarag (prone)

The fire elemental next to Tarag gathers itself together into a solid column of flames. It stretches itself upwards, and then slams down on the fallen cleric. Flames cover Tarag from head to toe, but his armor protects him from being seriously damaged by the brutal flames. (27, crit not confirmed, 5 damage)

The other fire elemental tries also to gather itself, but it fails miserably. It's little flame components roll around on Tommy's grease like water in oil. Rapture takes a swipe of opportunity at the uncoordinated guardian and scatters its flames even farther apart. Suddenly, they fizzle and die out. (18, AoO, 9 damage, F1 disintegrates)

Keldar...

Initiative:
Fiery3 (2 damage)
Keldar <--
Galwynn (-6 HP)
Rapture
Tommy
Tarag (prone) (5 HP)

Note: Tommy probably wants to dismiss his grease spell now (immediately, before Keldar goes), because it will only do harm to the good guys at this point, as it expires just before Rapture's initiative count this round.

OOC: See, I thought Tarag was going to move through Keldar's space and avoid the greased square.

Oh, I see what happened. After I posted my projected movement, Keldar took a 5 foot step into the square he was headed for.

Well, that being the case, he would have forgotten about taking a pot shot and moved on to be adjacent to Galwynn.

But if that's not the way it happens, he'll reach out to heal Galwynn (CLW) next round.

Eh...? He took a pot shot? And he doesn't have enough movement to actually get up the stairs this round. Can you finish your movement in a friendly square? I think no.

OOC: no pot shot possible - the first move action takes him up the stairs (difficult terrain) 2 squares east, into Tommy's position. The rest of the movement directly towards Galwynn leads to the events Rae described. It seems fair to me. It also seems as though Tarag's orders to Keldar backfired.

Seeing the surface of the floor return to normal, Keldar cocks his arm and sends a dagger flying at the last elemental, which unfortunately clatters into the wall behind it. Following up, he steps forward, and swings his morningstar. Perhaps the elemental was distracted by the dagger, because it's an almost perfect hit.

OOC: dagger 1d20+1=8; morningstar 1d20+0=20, 1d8+2=9

Keldar's morningstar glides through the elemental with ease. It dissipates into smoke as his weapon passes through its center. (F3 disintegrates)

Galwynn coughs up blood. (stabilization failed, -1 HP)

Combat over, but Galwynn is still losing 1 HP per 6 seconds.

Tarag reaches out to the dying paladin and summons Chennet's healing balm.

[sblock=OOC]OOC: Whoops, forgot about the difficult terrain. Trouvere, I'd never accuse Rae of being unfair! ;)
