Notes on the Aether (Rae judging)

Keldar curls his lip at Galwynn. "Where should I find inspiration, O Rapture? In fact, though, I recited from a romantic novel already written, by one Barry Lakeward... whoever he is. Perhaps I shall write a cautionary tale for children entitled Galwynn Grimesprayed and the Unusual Odour."

Tommy nods to Tarag. "I shall be happy for any protection you can provide, of course," he says. "Now then. I believe the first floor contains one earth elemental regeneration pylon, as well as the random automated summoning machine. Assuming the elementals tend to stay close to the device that summoned them, we can expect two elementals. If they wander aimlessly, there's no telling what we'll find. But, enough speculation! Let's be about this."

"If we need to rest, we need to rest, but in eight hours, a dissipated elemental can reform. Hmm... the Dissipated Elemental. That is a good name for a tavern. Anyway, the greatest difficulty will be in finding a secure place to stop, since the earth ones can walk through the stone walls, though not the metal. Now, when I have opened the door, I think Galwynn should go first, then Rapture, then Keldar, then Tommy, then Tarag, as swiftly as possible, so that we might surprise whatever is on the other side. I believe a good luck kiss is traditional at this point?"

"A kiss? I don't think the dwarf thinks of you that way, Thief. But your plan makes sense. Open the door, and let's get this over with!" Galwynn growls, and slowly draws his claymore from the scabbard slung over one shoulder carelessly.

"How odd - that's almost the first thing Tarag said to me himself. Although perhaps it is reassuring if all those who feel unsuitable - and indeed are! - have announced the fact immediately. Though perhaps not for Tommy. Right - the door. Everyone know what to expect? Fire elementals are like Keldar, swift to react, and fast over the ground - faster than me, even. Where did I leave that bucket? It will come in handy if one of us should catch on fire. Earth elementals are more like Galwynn, lumbering and mud-spattered. But they are hard to hurt. My arrow bounced clean off. And we saw one swim up through the ground like it was water, so they could appear from anywhere, from the floor or through the walls. Ah... Tarag, a brief word?"
[sblock=Tarag]"I have two phials on my belt," he says softly. "On my left hip, alchemist's fire. On my right, a healing potion. If I should fall and you're out of healing power, try to remember your left from your right! And if you should fall, I can get you back on your feet."[/sblock]Keldar turns to examine the door again.
[sblock=EternalSword]Is it locked? Even if it isn't, Keldar will pretend it is.[/sblock]

Trouvere said:
"Though perhaps not for Tommy."
"I'm not at all sure what you just said about me, but fortunately I'm certain everyone here will consider the source." Tommy says. "Is there a problem with the door, Keldar?"

"Chennet', what have I let myself in for? Come on then, let's get going!"

Tarag draws weapon and shield and stands ready to step inside the burning tower.

At Keldar's whispered comment, he nods in understanding.
