I have not signed up for the do not call list because me and my wife have gone full cellular, no land line. Telemarketers and surveyors never call cell phones, in part because the area code for a cell phone does not necessarily correspond with the area they are targeting. Most cell phones have a cell-only exchange anyways, so would never crop up in a group of exchanges plotted by area.

Telemarketing has never been a problem for me, as I've never had a land line. I moved out of my parents place 5 years ago and I've had a cell phone for that time. I've got two calls from salesmen in 5 years, and one from TV-permit agency (yeah, we have to have tv permits here. I never got one even though I've got a tv.)

Then again, listening to these horror stories from usa makes me think that telemarketing isn't such a big nuisance in finland anyways.
