Noticed this reading Harry Potter book 6...

El Ravager

First Post
I am about 2/3 through Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and I noticed something happen that seemed odd.

A couple chapters after Harry sets Dobby and Kreacher out to tail Draco, they come and deliver their report to him. What seemed odd to me was that they appartated and disapparated to and from the meeting. Within Hogwards. Which is not supposed to be possible as far as I understood.

Did I miss something? Are house elves able to do this and no one else?

This was mentioned in the general Book 6 thread. The consensus, albeit a slightly tongue-in-cheek one, was that house elves apparate as a supernatural ability, which puts it outside the bounds of the wards on Hogwarts. Seems reasonable, since they can do magic naturally, without training.

Demiurge out.

During the chapter in Book 6 where they are learing how to apparate they are being taught in the great hall. In fact the instructior from the minstery say that the Headmaster has lifted the mystical bairer on Apprarteing for 1 hour in the Great Hall only. May be the mystical barrier was made so that the House Elves are not affected by in in the first place??

I think I read an interview or an explanation on JK Rolling's website that there are different types of magic. Some more powerful than others. There is the magic that wizards and witches do, The more powerful magic of...um...magic creatures (Who don't need wands or to say any words or whatnot), and really, really old and powerful magic, like the type that saved Hary from Voldemort.

So House elves 'apparating' magic is more powerful and can ignore the enchantments made by humans I guess.

I believe it is mentioned somwhere that the house elves can apparate and dissaparate within Hogwart's. Presumably they are so trusted - since they can't disobey their master and Hogwart's is their employer - that the ban does not apply to them. I could be utterly wrong, though.
