[Nov] What are you reading?

I just finished The DaVinci Code, which was ok. I thought that it had potential to be much better than it was.

I'm now reading March Upcountry by David Weber and John Ringo. The first 10 pages have been most excellent! :)

Currently finishing up Empire of Unreason, by J. Gregory Keyes. Enjoyed the first two books a great deal, but not sure how well it's going to wrap up in what should be the final book.

dravot lent me his copy of the Book of Exalted Deeds, so I'm browsing through that, now. Planning on borrowing Anno Dracula from him, soon...but I think I need something else to clean the palate.

I'm reading Dragons of Summer Flame and I think it's one of the worst writen books I've ever read. :(

Ouch. You should try reading some of the early Star Trek novels then. Weis & Hickman are far better than many of those. :D

Speaking of which, I finally managed to pick up hardbacks of the War of Souls trilogy. I'll be reading Dragons of a Lost Star and Dragons of a Vanished Moon. Then I may go back and read the Annotated Chronicles and Annotated Legends I picked up.

Yeah, I like the Dragonlance books.

Finished up my usual October treats of a good bit of Poe, a smattering of Lovecraft and the entirety of Ray Bradbury's October Country. Then did Pratchett's Carpe Jugulum and Stevenson's Treasure Island.

Have yet to decide on the next book, but probably catch up with either de Lint or go back into my history texts. :)

To prevent shock at the end: IIRC there are four books, not three.

Let's see. I just read Crichton's Timeline, which was decent apart from a few "WTF?" moments (
"OK, we're not going to let you take any plastic, except these Star Trek translator earpieces, and we can't let you take any technology, aside from these aerosol canisters of mace..."
).

Then there was Bujold's Paladin of Souls. It was good, but I wish she'd write more Vorkosigan books.

Also finished Weber & White's The Shiva Option, which is sort of like Honor Harrington without the politics. Endless lists of dead people in space battles, and the types of technology that killed them. Stay away unless you really like the space battles in the Harrington books. I only read it because I read the first one.

Now reading S. Andrew Swann's (I think?) "Moreau" books, sort of a cyberpunk noir detective story starring an anthropomorphic tiger.

I thoroughly enjoyed the first two, and will be starting Empire of Unreason in a week or two. drnuncheon is right that there are four books in that series. The fourth is called The Shadows of God.

I'm currently finishing up Skull and Bones, and reading Zelazny's Dilvish the Damned.

Next on my list is either All Tomorrw's Parties by William Gibson, The Drawing of the Dark by Tim Powers.

Or not. I liked the Chronicals (the first three) and didn't mind the Legends, but this is sucking.

Re-re-reading Tolkien. Started by reading the Simarillion for the first time, then the Hobbit and now halfway through the LOTR trilogy (again). I wanted to have read (or re-read) them all before the extended TTT DVD comes out.

Oh, and I am patiently waiting for my lovely bride to #&*$@-ing finish Pratchett's Monstrous Regiment so I can have it. :)

I'm about to finish A Game of Thrones (George R. R. Martin), and then will be taking a break from fantasy to read Dude, Where's My Country? (Michael Moore).

Then, since I'm an addict, it will be A Clash of Kings. :D
