Im not going to punish him or anything Mark its just it was so funny because hes always messing stuff up and this time it was a bit obvious that it was intentional.
Or as domino said maybe just raw stupidity.

Had a player that always made his saves and never seemed to go into negative hit points, and when it was obvius he would have it never took him past -9. I don't run games with him very often anymore. He hated the concept of point buy and always seemed to roll very well when generating ability scores.
It is a flaw some people seem to have they lie and cheat. Had a DM once who we caught rolling a d12 behind his screen but the bad guys always hit. Depending on how well you know the people realy effects your reaction to situations like this.
