now I know I am getting old

my current group (ages 22, 24, 32, 34 and myself at 37) have their moments.

Today we gamed and there a moment of what to do to raise money, what to do with an evil priest's symbol and something about dragon sex that I missed most of while I was feeding the kids.

I played in a group a few years ago that had one 40+ year old, her 14 year old daughter and friend, one guy in his late 30s, and the DM who was in his mid-twenties. I was around 30 at the time. It was a fun group, and despite the age differences we all got along quite well.

Age doesn't equal maturity (just thinking of my group alone). and in truth so long as you all enjoy the same level of jokes and humor its all good. In a few years my son will join us in play (at 8 he wants to join us already) and we will all be in our 30's and ...upl....fourties at that point.

I can top that - having women who are grandmothers come on to you. That just happened to me. Yikes! I mean, since I'm 35, I know that that's technically possible with women my own age. But until it actually happens, it never hits you.

I once had one of the younger personalities of an older woman with MPD come onto me. I think I was 23, at the time, and she was in her mid-to-late forties. The only way this relates to this thread is that I was leaving the house where we always gamed, back then. My friend's mom had the woman as a live-in patient, and she was, apparently, having a "moment" at that moment. :heh:  :uhoh:

Yeah, age does seem to make a difference in playstyle.

At the youngest end of the spectrum, teenage and preteen kids seem to be in competition with each other, not trying to work together as a team. These are the folks most likely to wind up axing each other over a minor quibble. Obviously, the older you get, the less energy you have for that nonsense.

Don't sell yourself short sweety - I turn 37 this August, my son turns 18 on Wednesday... Yep, I are smart, just not real bright. :)

Lorgrom, the thing to remember is, eventually they will mature. Yes, for the next two years there are endless Sponge Bob and fart jokes, but after that, the grow into real jokes and quoting Monty Python at the table, then everything's fine. ;)

Wait, the group I game with (and we all started gaming together about 20 years ago, when we were teenagers!) still makes Spongebob, mom and fart jokes.

Of course, we like to quote Monty Python as well. :D

What did you do? Did you have some fun with her? Was she hot?

I play with a bunch of college age guys. Sometimes my age shows, like the night we started talking about Battlestar Gallactica. After a couple of minutes, the conversation went like this:

Me: Waaait a minute. You guys are talking about the new one.
Them: New what?
Me: Battlestar. I saw the one with Lorne Greene.
Them: Who?
Me: Lorne Greene. You know, Ben Cartwright.
Them: Huh?
Me: Alpo?
Them: Sit down, old man. You feeling okay?
Me: Shut up. Damn punks.

Boy do I know about THIS one. :\

I just got done (left not even half way though the session) playing tonight. There were three new players, two of which were kids under 15. This is the first time that playing with new players has bothered me so much.
There aren't any people your own age that bother you? At least being 15 they have an excuse! ;)
