Now that Paizo is on the verge of releasing Starfinder, should WotC bring back Star Frontiers?

The biggest things I can remember off the top of my head are how much the Vrusk and like the Thranx are similar (and if I remember correctly, Humans and Vrusk met first before other races in SF which would make it a lot like the Humanx Commonwealth in the books, but don't quote me on that). The Yazirians are very similar to the Trans also. Other things that stick out in my head are the ubiquitous hovercraft and supersciency but common medicines in both settings. And of course when I say "lifted," I mean "was inspired by." SF was of course inspired by many sci-fi settings.

EDIT: Huh, I just looked back in my old books and I'm amazed it's not one of the fiction sources listed in the appendix. So much good sci fi there. Maybe only I'm seeing the similarities or maybe the Pip and Flinx series was left out intentionally for being a bit too inspirational (dons tinfoil hat).

WotC doesn't really seem to be producing books at a fast rate anymore, and there's at least a dozen games out there that can do the same game far better than 5E. I don't really see a market opening for WotC in this.

I wouldn't mind seeing a revision of Star Frontiers... I don't want to see it done in 5E, but a similar approach, building on the original rules wouldn't be a bad thing.

Yes - I'd love to see Star Frontiers resurrected. I believe the 5E system would work as well as any (and much better than the original % system)

The Star Frontiers setting had major issues for me. It was a frontier, which is, you know, on the edge of civilization, except there was nothing but the frontier in this case. Also, that frontier was pretty sparsely described.

In the unlikely event that WotC does release a new edition of Star Frontiers, then I want a more detailed setting, and that "frontier" had better be on the edge of something, or they need to take frontier out of the name.

If they think they can make money then go for it, but I don't think there is anything there for them. Personally if I was going to run a scifi game I'd run Traveller.
