Pathfinder 1E Now that Pathfinder is out, is anyone giving their setting a try?

Pathfinder's default campaign setting is Golarion from their book Pathfinder Chronicles. I have it and really dig it. To me, it's a combination of many other settings that seems to cater a little something for everyone in a Forgotten Realms kind of way. So, now that you have the Pathfinder book in your hands, are you looking at Golarion? Or are you running it?

After I finish up my 2nd Kingdoms of Kalamar campaign, Golarion is slated on my to-do list.

I've been following the "journals" in the AP's, so I've gotten pretty interested in the setting.

I'll be running the CoT AP, and see how things go from there. I really enjoy the amoun of TLC the PF fluff has been getting.

Truth be told, the article on "Varisians" in the first CotCT AP is what got me hooked. It was nice being able to tell that the writers actually gave a damn about the setting. (I'm a 4e reverter, and the 4e CS's are a grudge of mine.)

Honestly, not me. I don't have anything against it, it just doesn't do anything special for me. To be honest, there's not really a shortage of settings for me. Off the top of my head, I've got Everstone, Forgotten Realms (1st Ed), Palladium Fantasy, Talislanta, Warlords of the Accordlands, Ptolus, Warcraft, Dark Sun (1st Ed), Lone Wolf... and that's just stuff that's easy to use d20 rules for. Just about every game out there comes with both a setting and rules, so if I felt like doing a bit of conversion work it'd be even more.

I'm currently a player in a Rise of the Runelords thing and so far I haven't seen anything to really prompt me to pick up the setting.

I've been using the setting already (for my 4E group) and I really like it. All the setting books are heavy on fluff and light on crunch, so the system I use doesn't impact very much on how useful they are for my campaign. TBH tho, I don't know how much my players are enjoying the setting, but I haven't heard any complaints yet.

I've been a dedicated home brewer for years.

And Golarion has so many cool takes on the classic ideas, that I've embraced it as my primary setting.

I have the setting, and I really, really love it; in many ways it reminds me of the "old" Realms in depth and quality of lore. I'll start my new Golarion campaign with 'Council of Thieves' (maybe run the 'Crypt of the Everflame' as a "prequel" to it) soon.

I'm currently on the home stretch of Savage Tide in World of Greyhawk, but when I'm done with that my gaming group will move to Golarion instead.

I was already using the setting long before the rulebook came out.

I really like it. On paper, it doesn't sound like the kind of setting that I like. Vanilla fantasy, etc. But somehow the Paizo folks have managed to take all that oldness and tiredness and make it fascinating all over again.

I wish I could explain how they've done it. But if I knew why it worked so well, I'd be doing it too.
