NPC encyclopedia?

Gaon

First Post
I just remembered reading a KODT a while ago where B.A. bought a book about using NPCs to the fullest, or something like that. As alot of things from KODT are based on real things I was wondering if there reeally is some kind of book like that that gives ideas and guidelines to making, using and running NPCs.

While not exactly what you're looking for, Everyone Else is a book I've had success with. It's more of a traditional NPC encyclopedia, with statted out NPCs for everything ranging from tailors to merchants to blacksmiths. It's very useful if you need NPC stats and just don't want to do any of the work yourself. However, it doesn't contain NPCs with PC-class levels.

It sounds like you're looking for:GM Mastery: NPC Essentials

Another great resource is the roleplayingtips newsletter, found here

I can vouch for both of these. Used quite extensively in my games.

There are also a number of good books/PDFs with fleshed out NPS to be used in your game, while these don't actually have instructions on how to MAKE them, they can be used as a template, so to speak.

RDP: A Touch of Evil, Vol. 1: Orcs

RDP: A Touch of Evil, Vol. 2: Hobgoblins

RDP: A Touch of Evil, Vol. 3: Gnolls

RDP: A Touch of Evil, Vol. 4: Dwarves

I don't have it bookmarked but I am sure somebody here has the NPC Wiki at the ready. Useful, but I have not browsed it in the last couple of weeks.
