Gilladian

Adventurer
In a couple of weeks, I am going to be running a scenario in which my party is running around talking extensively to people at an Arena. Gladiators, trainers, equipment caretakers, animal trainers, healers, groupies, "ladies" of both the upper and lower classes, etc...

This campaign is set in Ptolus, if that helps.

I need some short (two or three sentence) descriptions of and names for NPCs for them to interact with. I already have a few:

George Hammerfist - the weaponsmith who maintains and repairs all the weapons used in the arena. No one is allowed to use a weapon of his or her own, brought in from outside. However, George is quite happy (for a small fee) to allow gladiators to have a favorite weapon held for them, marked and stored in a special locker. George knows Garth is a gambler and has nothing good to say about him. He doesn't know who he owes money to.

Rip Vandash - this small man is a net and trident fighter, nimble and quick. He's volatile, easily angered and excitable, but sometimes gets very depressed as well. He's friendly to most everyone at first, but may take a strong dislike if rubbed the wrong way. He loves to eat. Rip and Garth are sometimes friends, and Rip knows that Garth occasionally makes excursions to the Docks as part of his gambling, but doesn't know where he goes.

Bardie "Happiness" Vanner - this gladiator is a big, muscular man with dark skin, hair and eyes. He must have Khemite ancestors. He's slow to talk, and is always depressed about something. He is certain that everything he sees is an omen of some future bad event. He warns everyone that "this could be your last day!" but never has any good advice on how to spend it. In the arena, however, he shines! He's rambunctious, shouting boisterous remarks and playing pranks on lesser fighters. He loves to pick up and throw other gladiators and any loose object around them. He barely knows Garth and has no info to share, but he did see the Slayers the evening Garth dies.

But I'd like about 10 more. I'll add any clues they might have for the specific adventure...

Thanks in advance!

while not necessarily "great" here are some starter ideas that may spawn off some better ideas in your head. :)

(name placeholder) The cousin of a Lord, making her a minor noble herself. She fights on behalf of her cousin's house to bring prestige for her cousin. While not bulking muscular, she is of a refined athletic build as someone who has undergone much physical training. However, for some reason she's been having a string of 'bad luck' since she arrived -- a poisonous spider in found its way to her bed, things just falling over, etc. Perhaps it's just bad luck, perhaps she is cursed, or perhaps someone doesn't want her fighting (in the later case it could be a political thing or someone simply doesn't want a woman fighting?)

(name placeholder). a quiet and mousy teenage girl tends to the horses of travelers who come to the arena. she is awkward and nervouse around people but is more at ease around the horses. She tells people that she can speak with the horses, and to those who she doesn't like (i.e. those who she belives mistreat the horses) she tells them that "some adventurer's horse once told her about some big gold stash over yonder ..." -- basically in hopes of getting that person killed (it's a fake lead, and perhaps she doesn't really even speak with horses). While she might not tell this to the PCs themselves, in a roundabout way, the PCs may hear rumor of someone who heard the lead from the girl. She of course doesn't want to reveal that she made it up so she carries on with her story. (depending on how much is at stake here, she may even ride ahead the night before and plant some fake gold in a stash at the spot)

(name placeholder). trained in a monestary in the use of unarmed combat, he now fights in the arena as a way to continuously test himself - it's all about self improvement and honor. Every sentence he says somehow includes the term "respect" either respect for himself or repsepect for the person he is speaking with (i.e. "out of repsect, I will tell you that ..." or "it would be a disprespect to all participants if all of us did not try our hardest in the trials..." etc).
