Now if I want I could just play ID by myself correct? Nobody connecting into my machine, or anything, just play it solo like the OC.

You have to be connected to the Internet to play it as it authenticates you each time you play. But you can certainly play solo. (I am.)

I haven't had the time to dedicate to it yet to form a final opinion.

So far it's very light on story and all hack n' slash. Now I like a good hack n' slash, but this may be a bit too much. The one puzzle I've come to I have been unable to solve (though I really haven't put too much time into it yet), so maybe the cool stuff is still coming (I hope so).

You do some minor talking, then go kill some things or solve a puzzle.

Luckily for me, that's what I wanted.

Not yet, but if I can manage to find a spare minute...

ID works in multiplayer just fine, though you cannot use a dedicated server for it. (host and play on same machine).

For the vast # of people - that's not a problem at all.
