I'd be more impressed if we could get some climbing, riding, and swimming involved in these kind of games. It feels kind of restrictive to be limited in this way, especially considering that it still requires a DM, and such-like.

I mean I'll be building a world mostly for my friends, so... We could just get together instead...

Horacio: They won't give a release date until it's almost ready to go gold. By the looks of the last developers notes, that should be sooner than later (They're working on the patch program, proofing text, finishing up the graphics, etc)

Machine: Infogrames "owns" the rights to Hasbro's electronic gaming division, not Hasbro itself.

GS: This is a smaller problem than it may at first seem, especially if you have a live DM that can simulate climbing and swimming during the game.

Yes, you're right. I'm in a bit in a tizzy from the news. Infogrammes did publish PoR2, UbiSoft designed it (well, SSI designed it, but then there were buyouts).

Not correct. SSI designed it, and UbiSoft published it. Neither Infogrammes or Interplay were involved with Pool of Radiance at all. If they had been, then my friends at Infogrammes would have worked on the game.

Infrogrammes only recently acquired the rights from Hasbro. NWN will be the first DnD game they publish.

I think it's a good idea to give no fixed date, and maybe failing it, yes.
But I would love to know if "sooner than later" means a month, six month, a year or six years...
