[NWN] Mystery doors (SPOILERS)

Ok, I've been playing fairly steadily and been through Chapter 1 a couple of times.

There are two "houses" in the Peninsula I can't get into and can't figure out why. They aren't the one that's part of the Many-Starred Cloak quest for arcane casters, they're sort of partway between the false Helmite and the main door to the prison.

Also, the same problem exists for me in the Beggar's District. The towers on the wall seem to have accessible doors, but I can't find a quest to open them. The gates to the Neverwinter Academy in the Beggar's District also won't open for me.

Without giving the whole thing away, can someone give me a hint?

Some doors are impassable, just there for decoration.

Like the Academy door, if you get a message like "The door is barred from the other side" it is impassable.

"The door is barred from the other side but shows signs of recent passage" means you need to find a lever or something like that to open it.

"The door is locked with a complex lock and warded against simple spells" means you need to find a specific key.
