Nyambe by Atlas Games/ Anyone running it?

Stumbled upon a copy of the campaign setting of Nyambe recently. Very well done book is appears to me. Price point is a little steep at $37.95, but I am interested.

Anyone running the setting? It appears to be a good way to run a low magic setting if you so desired, am I wrong in that assessment?

I think it would be kind of cool to start off characters fighting animals for a few encounters, before slapping in the more traditional monster types.

I also saw the first adventure listed for the campaign setting as well, but I can't remember what it was called, but it was geared to first level characters and can be used as a base of future operations. I wonder if there are future Nyambe releases scheduled?

Overall I am interested, but I would like to hear some war stories if anyone has any!

Thanks-

Check out the exhaustive reviews of it from the review page. It will give you a better look on the nitty-gritty inside. Personally I own it but don't run it; but that won't really speak for a lot since I try to own everything D20 ...

The module is Dire Spirits.

I own the CS as well but have not used it yet or done more than skimmed it but I liked a lot of what I saw such as the feats and classes.

Ditto Mean Eyed Cat. I may also utilize some of Nyambe's goodness in the Malatra area as well when my campaign rolls through that area. Bottom line, great book, can't wait to spring stuff on my unsuspecting party.

I will probably pick it up sometime. I found Nyambe early on, when it was still a pdf on the author's website; I found it very interesting.

I found it one day at work while it was a PDF and thought "hmm, that's interesting, I'll have to download that when I get home." By the time I got home, he had entered into negotiations with a publisher and removed the PDF from his site :(

That said, I still bought it when it came out in print. I like the setting a lot, but haven't had a chance to run it. It'll probably end up as a corner of my homebrew world that the players never end up touching :(

I dig Nyambe and one of these days I intend to pick it up. That said, I don't think my players would go for it as a stand-alone setting. I could certainly run a more standard campaign where they visit Nyambe, however.

the problem with using it as an add on, is that the author has said on these boards that the classes are a little more powerful than the standard DnD ones, in order to comensate for various other changes.

this means that if your players go there, then it might be tough for them. i suggested that he might want to do a web enhancement for the book, with changes and he seemed keen, but never heard anything else about it. He used to hang out here, but I haven't seen him around for ages.

Good news! The 107 page "Players Lorebook" .pdf IS available from the downloads section of

http://www.nyambe.com/

download/read this, and you will still want to own the print version, even though there is some overlap.

But no - sorry. I haven't played in the setting yet either. I want to though!
