I can see why this could be useful for them, but it also raises questions of privacy and surveillance. I'm sure there will be a wave of malfunction when arrests are made and nothing was filmd.

Generally equipping police with cameras has lead to a reduction in violence (both by those being arrested and the use of force by police) and complaints by members of the public (source).
