NYT article about mercenaries

Moderator's Notes:
This article certainly has bearing on current politics, but it also (from skimming the first page) appears to have a lot of information about the workings of mercenary organizations.

Obviously, we're not going to be discussing whether any specific war is a good idea, or whether the use of mercenaries in any particular war is a good idea, or anything at all like that (and mentioning what we're not going to discuss is NOT an invitation to discuss those issues).

However, D&D and D20 modern and other games often involve mercenary organizations, and as long as the discussion of the article is in that context, and not the context of politics, I think it could be really interesting.

Can't read the article, but I did see a show about modern mercenarie groups on the History Channel (I believe) a while back, which was interesting.
