Pathfinder 1E O.A. 3x to Pathdinder

I'm getting my geek off by updating some monsters and ideas to Pathfinder. Right now I'm flipping through part of Oriental Adventures. While I would have preferred 3x to totally update the original OA, Rokugan is pretty cool, too.

What I'm looking for suggestions on is the Shadowlands Taint. It has a score of 1-10 and is really harmful to any normal person/pc/critter ... but not to Shadowlands creatures.

What should I do with that score? ... firstly I'm putting Taint under the Aura stat block. Taint also lets the creature treat all of its weapon and natural attacks as 'evil' for purposes of DR.

What else though? Bonus on saves vs. 'good' spells and positive energy attacks (holy?) ...

I'd like to get one more bonus other than 'evil' attacks, but not turn the monster into a MONSTER ... if you know what I mean.

ideas? suggestions?

In other news, does anyone have the base stats for WoW PC races? ... I have the Warcraft RPG, but not the WoW RPG and would like to get some rules for foresaken, trolls, and gnomes (if the data is postable ... if not I'll wait till the WoW RPG drops in price. I got Warcraft RPG for $11 so it was a good deal)

I don't have the book in front of me, so I don't recall what Taint actually does, but I'm not sure I'd add it as a bonus to saves. Taint is a manifestation of evil; it doesn't quite follow that being more evil makes a creature more resistant to attacks that target evil. I'd probably look at Taint inflicting some kind of additional damage, possibly as a poison or disease?

Honestly, that doesn't sound quite right either. Hrm. Maybe boil it down to a +1 - +3 bonus on saves?

Are you doing this for publication? Rokugan (the initial book) wasn't released under the OGL (I think it ought to have been, and I'm not saying that should deter you...). ;)

I've got the WoW RPG and a few accessory books, but not to hand and not, I think, in any sort of digital format. What sort of base stats are you looking for? special abilities and all that?

IIRC, Taint was updated to 3.5e in either "Unearthed Arcana" or "Heroes of Horror". That might be worth looking at - they're probably closer to what you want to be doing for Pathfinder.

Beyond that, I'm afraid I can't help. I don't have the book to hand to check what Taint actually does.

While not Oriental Adventures, Kara-Tur, nor Rokugan, specifically, there is a setting designed for Pathfinder that relies on authentic Japanese folklore, culture, history and more, heavily relying on OA, with complete creations from scratch (not conversions) of samurai, ninja, yakuza (various rogue archetypes), bard (mosa), ranger (yojimbo), paladin (yamabushi) and more. The Kaidan setting of Japanese horror is based on a feudal Japan and Asian horror cross. Nods to Ravenloft in its design. This is an imprint published under Rite Publishing.

There is an introductory mini-adventure arc of 3 modules called The Curse of the Golden Spear (The Gift, Dim Spirit, and Dark Path). There are 3 one-shot adventures: Frozen Wind (free PDF), The Tolling of Tears, and Up from Darkness. There are 2 class/faction guides: Way of the Samurai and Way of the Yakuza. There are 3 racial supplements: In the Company of Kappa, In the Company of Henge, and In the Company of Tengu. There is a haunts supplement: #30 Haunts for Kaidan. And there's a detailed and mapped adventure site called Haiku of Horror: Autumn Moon Bath House.

The setting guide and players guide should be available in the next few months, following a KS we ran to fund them.

There is more being created all the time. Note all the products are highly rated, check out the reviews. And much of the content is posted on d20pfsrd.com

This thread is an OA monster conversion thread, but there will be a Kaidan Bestiary sometime later this year, so something to look forward to.

Also unlike Rokugan (which to me is China, because it is land-locked), Kaidan is more like Japan as an archipelago of islands (able to be placed in the ocean of any world.) Here is a link to the full map of Kaidan.

The text on the map overwhelms the map. Make the font much much thinner.

The font chosen is used because at 8" x 10.5" dimensions you cannot read a thinner font, since they are smaller than 8 point and still be able to fit in a printed Kaidan Campaign Guide. However, also available as a large format print, I use the thinner font for that, as this map is 36" x 54" when printed to full scale. (I work the print design industry, I know what I have to do.)

OK. If that's what you gotta do, that's what you gotta do. On my screen (which is not printed, obviously) it was a bit overwhelming and jumbly.

No publication, unless I'm posting a PF-ized version in the homebrews forum.

Taint in OA is pretty bad for anything ... except if you were a shadowlands creature, then it did nothing ... but creatures are listed with taint score regardless. I was hoping to use that as some sort of profane bonus or ability.

WoW: yeah base stats and special abilities ... I do have Warcraft RPG and did get a good run down on the Draenei that was a post from one of the developers (stats, abilities, and 3-lvl paragon class that mimicked some of the WoW MMORPG healing)

Also unlike Rokugan (which to me is China, because it is land-locked)

you mean land based [ahem, apparently continental is a more appropriate term] right? ... Rokugan has access to some significant beach front property.

I do like Kara-tur because of the amalgamation of the chief far-eastern cultures.
