Sometimes. Certainly not in comics, though no one actually dies in comics.

She was killed by Dooku with force lightning. Her body is recovered and she is given a hero's funeral on Dathomir. No singing Ewoks where admitted.

Also canonical, C14 BBY Merrin (Fallen Order) is supposed to be the last nightsister. It may be Merrin who appears in Kenobi, not Ventress.
