OGC Pantheons and Gods

Voadam

Legend
I was trying to remember which pantheons and gods have and have not been designated OGC in products and can be reused by publishers in OGL books.

The WotC product deities (Greyhawk, Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Dragonlance, etc.) were never released but there were a ton of OGL books that released things to greater and lesser extents.

OGC:
Lore of the Gods from Dragonwing Games for real world pantheons.
Spiros Blaak pantheon from Spiros Blaak.

A little OGC:
Freeport Pathfinder Companion gives some generic god names and domains.
Touched by the Gods from Atlas Games' gives some bare bones info on a bunch of cults (including names) as OGC but not the in-depth descriptions.

Not OGC:
WotC pantheons from WotC products
Bopk of the Righteous Pantheon from Green Ronin's Book of the Righteous
Cerulean Seas Pantheon from Alluria's Cerulean Seas
Dajobas from Dajobas Devourer of Worlds
Erde Pantheon from Codex of Erde Gazetteer
Ptolus Pantheon from Ptolus
Scarred Lands Pantheon from Divine and Defeated

I always wished Green Ronin would revisit the Book of the Righteous or release it as OGC because I'd like to see third party support for it, but I dream too much.

So I'd add all of the deities from BotR to the Not OGC list.

I always wondered why somebody didn't just take all the SRD material relating to divine powers, domains, deities and such, take a wide variety of real-world mythologies and pantheons, and popular public domain literary sources, and make a 100% OGC book of deities for campaigns, call it OpenGods or something like that.

How much of a market is there for that? The SRD material's already free and Wikipedia (and to a lesser extent, Pantheon.com) is stuffed full of all that info.

Bastion Press started something like that, ten years ago. I've got the Norse gods, Greek gods, and Egyptian gods pdfs. And Bastion had an -awesome- completely OGC policy.

Have you dug around in RPGNow/DrivethruRPG?

Edit: If you aren't so particular about real world deities, and just want OGC stuff, check out the Tempest setting. We never really got rolling on it, but there's a pantheon sketched out and entirely OGC. http://ogcs.wikispaces.com/

Dragonwing Games' Lore of the Gods is all OGC for the text and includes Greek, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Norse pantheons and decent stories/cosmology for the pantheons.

Pretty sure that is the compilation of the Bastion books mentioned by Nellisir.

That said, Dragonwing looks to have a few products of their own, so thanks for the info.

Not quite. It is not a compilation of those small pdfs but a massive complete rewrite of all of those plus a ton more stuff. I've got all the old ones plus the Lore of the Gods pdf as well.
