This is a great idea! I'd be willing to help throw out some ideas, and I imagine there are others on this board who would do the same. Are you looking for help at all?

Yes, I am. I'll looking for about two or three other people to help write the book. Right now I'm just looking for interest. But yes, I would love some help. I'll create another tread once I have more of the book's foundation drafted up.

I voted yes... and I feel I must explain myself. I would buy a book like this if it had a little bit of fluff and crunch for each setting, a map for each would be a BIG plus.

maybe 2 page map... 1 page history and concept 1 page story hooks, and one page NPCs and uniqe crunch...thats about 5 pages...so about 20 settings in the book. I also would like them to very...maybe one barbaric, one roman one asian one celtic, one steam punk, not all carbon copies.

Awesome. Would you mind mailing me when you make the new thread? I'll forget otherwise.

Sure thing!

Yes, the book would have both fluff and crunch; mostly fluff based crunch, but crunch none the less (specific feats, weapons, stuff like that). Also, I really like your five page outline. I may end up using that with some modifications (rolling plot hooks and NPCs together). Thanks for the input.

Sorry, but it gets a firm 'no' from me. :(

Such initial ideas are easy for me. It's the damn time and effort beyond this (and the fact that my two groups meet only oncer per month) that put a stop to my world building plans.

But nevertheless I wish you good luck!

Hey. At least you're honest, I appreciate that at the very least. Sounds like we have something in common though, being about to think of these things on the turn of a dime.

Good luck to you too with your games.

I have two settings done at the moment. One of them requires I make a couple classes to make them work and keep player choice (divine magic doesn't really fit the feeling of it), so I'm working on another defender and leader.

Right now this isn't my main project. I have an RPG I have been working on since February that I have been working like mad on lately. I'm about a week away from finishing the playtest rules, which I would like to go through with my group and begin trying things out. At that point this will switch over to my main project. It isn't like I can release before October anyway.

I've been working on a setting and two adventures in it for a week or two now, hoping for some opportunity to get them out there. If you need writing help just let me know! I'd love to contribute.
(Also, I'm a pretty good editor if you don't need any more writing... ;) )
