They're doing "Skull and Bones"? Man, they got a lot on their plate lately: Mutants & Masterminds, Ultramodern Firearms, Dragon Fist, etc.

As I sit waiting, breath a-baiting
I hear the hall clock tock and tick.
And from my Windows comes a posting:
Quoth the Noah, "Crap on a Stick!"

I was looking forward to this release, but truthfully I hadn't had any idea that it was late. Now that I know, I'm suddenly, inexplicably irritated. Go figure.

Everyone loves pirates!

And thanks to Monte Cook I just noticed: Hey, did you ever notice how "pirates" is one typo away from "pilates". How different Treasure Island would be if Long John Silver was replaced by Denise Austin.

Skull and bones sounds so cool I WANT IT!! These companies should stop promissing exact dates when they know its not gunna happen. Grr go capitalist society

Believe me, if I could sell books without being FORCED by distribution to announce a release date, I'd never tell anyone when anything was coming.

Unfortunately, we need to give estimated release dates for books in order to solicit them for distribution, four to six months in advance if not more. Often, during that time, a book is still being finalized and anything can happen at each step along the way. Authors, editors, artists, graphic designers, even printers can (and do) have freak outs, fail to make their turn overs, have personal or professional catastrophies, you name it.

That said, Green Ronin hates to push back the release of any project, although it does happen. Mutants & Masterminds is another example of a book that was announced in advance and worked on diligently, but delayed by a month anyway, because when it came down to it the book needed that extra month of time and we were not going to release a book that wasn't as good as it needed to be.

The book will come out, and the wait won't be too much longer. I'm glad to hear that people are excited for it! We're not trying to frustrate you, we're just trying to put out consitently great products, whatever it takes.

How is Skull & Bones going to be different from Sea of Blood or Seafarers Handbook? (Of which I have both)

Skull & Bones is a historical d20 campaign setting. We're calling it Swashbuckling Horror in the Golden Age of Piracy.

This is the description from the catalog:

Pirates prey upon Spanish Galleons, adventurers search for buried treasure, and the dead walk the streets of Port-au-Prince-this is the world of Skull & Bones. Designed by Adamant Entertainment, Skull & Bones is a superbly researched RPG that brings the history and legends of the Golden Age of Piracy to life. Comprehensive d20 rules cover everything from character classes to firearms to naval combat, as well as Voodoo magic. The mysterious world of houngan and boccors unfolds, with details on every aspect of Voodoo, from gris-gris to zombi to the powerful and capricious spirits known as the Loa. Whether you choose to adventure on the Spanish Main or merely use the rules to add horror and piracy to your own d20 campaign, Skull & Bones is your starting point for thrilling action on the high seas.

The naval combat rules are based on the rules in Seas of Blood.
