OK, here's my can o' worms question!

What is you opinion about playing rpg's?

  • I'll only play 3E D&D.

  • I'll play any RPG, as long as it is fun.

  • I hate 3E.

I voted 4, but my option is really 1+2. I'll play any RPG as long as it's fun, but if that RPG is D&D, the only D&D I'll play is 3e (revised or not). I like the d20 system, and don't want to bother with the previous ruleset. I would never have touched D&D, even with a 20-ft.-pole, if not for the streamlining and "logicification" 3e brought to it.

Played too many crappy systems already (for example, Storytellers). My resistance to unworking, illogical, just plain absurd ruleset has been worn thin with Vampire 1e.

I'll play anything, but I prefer a hybrid system. Considering that I was playing a hybrid version of 2E when they announced 3E, and that I was hoping the newer version would expand upon and fix many of the problems I had with 2E (or at least be compatible with it), I dislike what 3E actually turned out to be.

I would play anything that is fun and even some games that I dislike to please my friends. That said, I will not run a game in a system that doesn't fit my improvisional style, and that's why I don't DM d20 D&D. I favor games with little rules and not many supplements to carry with me. Right now, I would consider run a game with the following books: D&D Rules Cyclopedia, The Traveller Book, Call of Cthulhu, and Dark Ages Cthulhu. I am considering some new games, such as Warhammer FRP 2nd edition and Legends of 5 Rings 3rd edition, but I'm no hurry to increase my game library.

These days I mainly play D20 games
D&D 3.11 for workgroups
Conan RPG

But recently have played
CoC (BRP)
Baron Munchhausen

and intend to play again soon
Paranoia 2e

Games to avoid (Harmon rules)-

If you slip off a curb and take deadly damage

Death during character creation

Rules make no sense

If the combat system from one campanion book to another is not consistent

Do not understand the history, culture, places, or things that are in the world

If the GM bought the book that day and wants to make characters and play that night

Add me to the big pile o' gaming whores.

I like to try new systems, actually. It's exciting to me to see different ways of resolving things and reflecting at how different aspects become important because of it.

Unfortunately, I've never been able to find a large base of gamers so game options are and always have been low.
Fortunately, however, I've always liked 3e(mechanics, art, support; the whole shebang) as well as 3.5 and it's the easiest one to find players for.

No dungeons and no dragons makes Goblyn go ... something, something.

I guess I'm a big time gaming whore. I'll playt just about anything as long as it sounds interesting. THese days, it's mostly d20 based games, but that's because that's what other people are playing. The mechanics don't matter much to me, I can learn any of them. What I care mostly about is the setting/situation. Games I've played:

D&D (pretty much all versions since Basic, including 1st ed AD&D, 2nd ed, and both 3E versions)
Call of Cthulhu (both d20 and BRP)
Champions
Villains and Vigilantes
Classic Traveller (and MegaTraveller)
GURPS - sci fi
Cyberpunk 2020
Paranoia
Talislanta
Star Trek (FASA version)
Gamma World
Mutants and Masterminds
Star Frontiers
Recon
Top Secret
Chill
And there are probably a few others I've tried but can't remember.

There are very few I would actively avoid, but that's mainly because of the subject matter. I find Vampire, for example, to be really distasteful and have no interest in playing it.

If I can fit it into my crappy work and home schedule, I'll play just about anything.

If I don't know the system, I'll learn it.
If I can't learn it, I'll fake it.
If I can't fake it, I'll just sit and have fun with the social/group aspect of playing.

I'm too easy. Heh.

I would play anything.
I moved up from my 1E/2E mix just to try 3E out and to hopefully get away from trying to remember which rules I was using.
I like 3E/3.5E and won't go back unless I am playing with someone and that is what they are using. At least I will be playing.

I'll play anything but have not played any non 3e in about ....3 years I guess.

Aliens the role-playing game.

Play dead or play food to go
