Old edition "signature characters"

my link above has the 2E PHB iconics covered. ;)

i think there was an elf in a Black Sabbath song called Sweetleaf. Ozzy really loved him for some reason. ;)

I remember a dwarf called Elkhorn in one of the books or modules - it made me laugh because there's a town of Elkhorn, Wisconsin, not far from Lake Geneva, and I assumed the dwarf was named after the town.

I dunno, but I've been very tempted to either play a character named Blackleaf, or even include one in one of my published books. :D

I believe Silverleaf & Blackleaf were twins, a rarity among the elven people which makes Blackleaf's fate all the more tragic. ;)

~ Redouleent the Prestidigitator (1e DMG, p. 39)

~ Party A: Aggro the Axe (4th level fighter), Abner (5th level m-u), Arkayn (4th level cleric); and Arlanni (2nd level thief).

~ Party B: Gutboy Barrelhous (6th level dwarf fighter); Balto (1st level monk); Blatum (4th level m-u); and Barjin (4th/5th level half-elf fighter/m-u). (1e DMG, p.71)

WHAT?! No love for the bad boys of the 1980's? What about...

Elkhorn
Kelek
Mercion
Perelay/Melf
Ringlerun
Strongheart
Warduke
Zarak
Northlord

and then there's the second string...

Bowmark
Deeth
Drex
Ogre King
"Young Male Titan"
Grimsowrd
Hawkler
Zorgar
Mandoom
Metaflame

Plus it had this BAD BOY... http://www.toyarchive.com/DDHookedHorror.jpg

There's that one really great 1e dmg combat example with Blatum, Barjin, Gutboy Barrelhouse et al, but I can't recall all their names and I'm not sure where the ol' 1e dmg is these days.

From Planescape:

Tarsheva Longreach, more or less the iconic planeswalker. And Xanxost, the iconic Slaadi, if such a thing were possible. They both pop up repeatedly, though they don't feature as characters in any modules. Xanxost serves as an IC author in two sourcebooks, and Tarsheva serves as the same or a narrator in several places as well IIRC.

Look 4 posts up -- I already covered this. ;)
