Old Games That Should Be Remade

Pretty much all the ones mentioned above, but definitely XCom, Steel Panthers, and Star Control would top the list.

In addition, Ultima Underworld updated with modern graphics, etc (it'd be like a medieval System Shock 2...)

Starflight! This would be my #2 right after XCom. It was the first game to grab hold of me and not let me go until I completed it. I remember the first time I played it and found that there was a time limit to your mission; came back to homeworld to find it wiped clean by solar flares due to my failure. Sat and stared at the TV (was playing it on a C64 :) ) for about 5 minutes, felt like I'd been punched in the gut :) Good times!

Odd as it sounds I have seen a Morrowind Mod for Ultima Underworld...

Starflight! Yes, I had forgotten that one! We are the mighty Spemin Good story and a fun game...

Oh, and another one - Daggerfall, while Morrowind is fun the sheer number of hours happily wasted with Daggerfall was monumental... And maybe it could even be finished this time! (Just a few bugs if I recall... and occassionally falling out of the world.)

The game I most want to see remade, or even just a perfect port of is Gain Ground. Of course Sega is working on a remake already, I’m just hoping they don’t ruin it.

Ultima 4: 3-D perspective game with the same depth of gameplay and ethics rquired. All later Ultimas, you were the avatar no matter how bad you were; in Ultima 4, you had to EARN it, and KEEP it.

I believe that's because by that point they assumed everyone had already been properly trained. In fact I think RG explicitly stated so at one point.

Anyway chalk me up as one more Ultima fan that wants to see the games remade, U4 and U5 in particular, since I wasn’t able to play the originals.

There are a couple of groups of fans that are working on making U1 (apparently dead) and U5.

I assume that’s supposed to be a UU mod for Morrowind, correct?

When the going gets tough...

...the bard goes drinkin'! The Bard's Tale series introduced me to CRPG's. No other game I've ever played since has given me that "eerie dungeon crawl" feeling when I played it.

I guess it's like drugs...the first hit is always the best one. After that you are just trying to imitate that first sensation.

Ayuh, strike what I wrote and reverse it...

Sundog and Alternate Reality are the two old games my nostalgia yearns for.

Ultima is done for me, the last Avatar Ultima felt too much like Tomb Raider to me. The old Ultima and Wizardry games are still somewhat amusing if you get the apple 2e emulator programs.

There actually was a remake of sorts of MULE recently. Not an official one, as that is likely tied up in tons of red tape. But an unofficial one.

I've resigned myself to the fact that a remake of X-com or Breach or any other turn based game will never happen. They just don't make turn based games anymore, if a remake did occur, it would be real time (like UFO:Aftermath) or phased-real time (like the new game from the X-com people, the Gollop Brothers) which is just real time that pauses every 10 seconds.

Mind you, I don't hate all real time games (Mule was real time, for instance), but I simply like turn based games.

X-Com:UFO Defense: Best game EVAR!!!!11 It's been imitated, but never duplicated.

Pirates!: Second best game EVAR!!!1!1 I want to play it right now, durn it! Sea Dogs and Pirates of the Carribean didn't quite capture it.

Romance of the Three Kingdoms: From what I hear, they are still making new versions of this game for the console, but I haven't seen anything since RotTK V (III was the best).

Tie Fighter: Best dogfight game I've played, though Wing Commander was excellent, too.

Master of Orion: MOO3 doesn't count. Like Highlander 2, let's just forget that it ever happened and make a decent sequal to a great series.

I recently dicovered that it was only nostalga that made me think I wanted to play those old gold box SSI games again. I tried playing Pool of Radiance not too long ago (the old one, not that buggy peice of crap that was released last year), and it wasn't too much fun...maybe it's those dang AD&D rules...

I would love to play xcom, bards tale(for nostalgia), populus, might and magic, mule, colonization, master of magic, and the old version of master of orion on my new pc. It may have been slow on my old computers, particularly towards endgame scenarios, but I loved being able to do housechores for 10 minutes and come back for the processed turn.

Also I would like to see a turn based fantasy squad level game with the same gameplay as xcom. If I had programing skills beyond basic I would attempt using the flash type games as a alternative. Just seem to never have the time to do what I want anymore.
