I won't spoil anything except to say that our intrepid interviewer returns ... only to perish yet again. Stay tuned!

*quietly waits for the first report of gnomes having petrification and lightning blast abilities in 4e to hit the boards thanks to Chris's post*

Wouldn't that "lightning blast" be disintegration?
Actually, the "lightning blasts" seem to me to be generic ray animation. I think the implication of the last few seconds of the clip was that at least one of the beholder's rays will have an immediate effect, possibly dealing hit point damage when it hits.

I took it as a more cool over content bit. But yeah I suspect the beholder will have to have some immediate effect abilities or fights with it will look like this.

Surprise round "Bob you get hit by a Ray of DOOOOOOOOOM"
Round 1 "The beholder is hauling ass trying to run away from you for ummm at least 4 rounds"

One of the advantages that D&D Insider has over the print medium is the ability to do Flash animations, which is something we intend to continue doing. The beholder toon is the first in a series. Next on the interview list is the 4th Edition gnome. We hope you find it hilariously informative. I won't spoil anything except to say that our intrepid interviewer returns ... only to perish yet again. Stay tuned!

Please, please don't use fancy font colors like this. Not everyone is reading this on a black background.

How's he supposed to convey that he's ascended to lichhood if his text doesn't reflect the chilling embrace of arcane undeath?
