Yeah, while I'd have loved to have more or different level three options in Heroes of the Borderlands, for the most part, they've picked pretty simple choices for newbies. The effective difference between a Life cleric and a Light cleric is pretty minor, especially in an adventure that's not going to be crawling with undead, so it makes the new cleric player's choice easy and fun.

Honestly, I'm kind of surprised they included the eldritch knight for the fighters, since that definitely adds to the complications of the class, even if it's only a few spells at level 3.
