I have a cornucopia of great epic music to play during my campaign.
I heavily favor Two Steps From Hell, and E.S. Posthumous, as long with, of course, the DnD soundtrack A 'la Midnight Syndicate.
For low key, creepy/dungeoneering atmospheres I usually rock something on the experimental side of post-rock.
However, I find myself with a big niche to fill and no mortal. It seems like basically all soundtrack music fills the voiid of "Courage in the face of impossible odds" or "Victory after a great struggle", or "Finally! The Riders of Rohan showed up!".
But I find that in a healthy campaign, the PC's are happily slaughtering weaker foes nearly as often as they are mustering the courage to ride into a battle they may not return from. What are good tunes to set the scene for mowing down waves upon waves of minions, considering that the version of "Banana Splits" from the Kickass soundtrack would be a little jarring in a fantasy setting.
Right now I mostly bust out some more rock-ish metal; like mastadon's "Crystal Skulls", or something along those lines, but I'm looking for something a little more fun to really concoct a "last surviving goblin crawls away from wreckage of fireball only to look up at grinning barbarian" vibe.
Any suggestions?
