[Online] 4th Edition D&D Game

King, what do you think about having a sister. Maybe a younger one that you lost track of after you were kicked out. This could set up future plot twists for both of you.

Maybe your father prevented you from finding out about her because he was fearful of your new lifestyle and such and even more fearful of telling you after she was killed for fear of your wrath.... possibilities?

I could also work it into mine but your involvement make s for high society drama.

if you like the idea, Bobby, work it into your story and King will work it into his.

If you can be online tomorrow, Bobby, we'll help you create your character and get a character sheet over to you...OR you could go to the D&D website and download and install the character builder (can't miss it) and we'll walk you thru it tomorrow.

Then you can massage your concept into a real character and submit a finished character to the DM by Friday night.

Let's not get carried away. We still have to tie in a few more players..ROFL

"I may be a bastard, but I'm not YOUR bastard!" -Aaerdon to yet another dead man who insisted he had intimate relations with his mother

Geez, you turn you back for 5 minutes and the players just run rampage all over you!

Glad to see some of the ideas here guys. WHile I have a campaign arc and story, I always find its the weird unexpected directions the players drag things that make a game truly intersting and unique.

But yeah, you guys have problems... ;)

Oh, one note... there are no 'half' races in the campaign. children to parents of different races tend to breed true into one or other of those races. That doesn't mean that if the human son of an elf man and human woman living in a largely elven district won't get ridiculously taunted of course.

Half elves are technically Mountain elves int eh campaign, but are mechanically identical.

Ok, time for me to start collating my notes I think...

This is the problem with running long campaigns. You forget all the work involved in getting them going to start with!

Background: Society, Noble (+2insight)
Born to a wealthy and well-respected merchant family, Icarus had an easy and privileged upbringing in an aristocratic world. The eldest of three brothers, it was to be Icarus' who inherited the company and the fortune once their father died. And so he did.
He was a shrewd and noble businessman, very much loved by his employees and the other merchants of the city. One day he fell in love with the Lord's daughter. A scarce two weeks later and they were wed. It was beautiful.

A few months later his wife fell ill. Severely ill. The surgeon called it a wasting disease, the priest called it a foul blight cast upon her by the gods. Unwilling to accept the latter, Icarus spent much of the family fortune on bizarre and exotic medicines from far and wide to cure his wife, but none would work. He squandered the rest on donations to the church and purchasing blessed waters and healing from the clergy. Nothing worked.

Icarus refused to give up. He petitioned for aid from every source, calling on every favour the family owed and spending every penny of the fortune. He finally acquired a book from a very shady looking sorcerer. The book, he claimed, would grant wishes most powerful.

(I'll flesh this out a little more in my head, we'll leave it here for now)
wrapping it up: the book was not a book but a cursed object. upon reading one of the many listed wishes a great devil appeared, made the offer to save her. icarus agreed, wife was saved. wife's body was save. wife was inhabited now by a succubus(oh ho ho).
icarus wouldn't accept, called forth devil. devil laughed and called in on contract. stubborn and relentless icarus resisted and escaped. soon found demonic powers, the contract/bond to the devil still very much exists. devil owns soul and tries every so often to reclaim, with increasing ferocity.
icarus tries now to understand and harness the power. perhaps with the devils strength he can save his wife and then break the bonds and happily ever after.
also fortune is squandered, family split hatefully, no respect or money. icarus is destitute.
Oh, and best of intentions! He's always got the best of intentions. After all this he still solidly refuses to surrender and is somewhat blindly optimistic.

I'm trying to think how he might join the party...
