Online D&D games?

if you scroll down on the EN World forums pages, you'll see a Gamers Seeking Gamers forum where you can advertise a game if you want to run one, or peruse existing games. Roll20, Fantasy Grounds and Maptools all have forums for advertising games as well. There are also a number of other websites for connecting gamers. The one true advantage of online games is that you can get players without too much trouble.

I've been running and playing games in Roll20 for the better part of 2 years now.

One thing we've found to make things run smoother is that in circumstances where the party is talking to NPC(s) or the DM is actively describing what's going on, the voice line should be reserved for Player-to-DM interactions. Side conversations and character reactions outside of the player being directly addressed should be handled in the text chat. This allows for inter-party RP without the problems of people talking over each other that are inherent in a VOIP-style conversation.

I'm playing via play-by-post which is a different story altogether again and has different ups and downs.

You probably should be aware how you want to play before applying somewhere, because it matters quite a lot, especially depending on how much time you have and in what time range you can be available.
