OOC 3.5 Savage Tide

Ethandrew: Yes i plan to grapple some enemies, so your sneak attack will be useful.
Dragonwriter: I think one of the fighter ideas would be great.

Cloistered Cleric is very good and is present in most optimized Cleric builds. So long as you are not going primary melee, you will be fine. You can go for healbot extraordinare, for Radiant Servant of Lathander (and making Undead go boom), or even the tried and true (and cheezy) lots of turning attempts + divine metamagic + persist spell + nightsticks :) Well maybe not that, seeing as how i can persist your stuff for free anyway.

Consult these two links: LINK ONE , LINK TWO. :)

Well, Gandalf said to play what I normally wouldn't be able to. This looks fun on paper, but not sure how fun in practice.

Cloistered Cleric/Warlock/Eldritch Disciple/Contemplative.

I know Warforged is more suited for melee builds, but I haven't found an interesting race as of yet. If I wanted to optimize, I'd take Lesser or even standard Aasimar and buy off the LA... but I thought it might be interesting to have a beefy character, designed for ranged and spells, to wade in here and there just for the fun of being able to.

Yargh, I might even opt to make a *shudder* Human.

Strongheart Halfling would be better for ranged combat IMO. They get a bonus feat but also Small size, dex bonuses and some other nice Halflingy things :) Plis Elistina would like to not be the only runt in the group :D

...

Then I've got a couple in mind that are far less melee-focused, but might be good for the party anyway... (depends on how WD focuses his mage)

Focus: Summoning evil outsiders to fight for the powers of good.

Are you able to/going to be able to do that long-term, such as with Planar Binding? Or are you going to rely on the "summon monster" spells? I'm not familiar with Malconvoker, so I'm asking. It helps me iron out the way to style my Binder if I know what other people's skills are, so my Binder can change to something else (easier for me than for you :)).

Or, I could just set my stats up to be averaged out and swap on a daily basis, with my feats being, again, average/generalized... Definitely the "Jack-of-all-trades, master of none" style with that.

EDIT: In fact, I might just go with that... Extreme versatility, able to support anywhere, anytime. Might just be the best fit. :)

The main difference I see is that Strongheart Halflings get the extra feat in lieu of the +1 Savings Throw bonus. Is this the only difference?

Pretty much, but they do get the other bonuses Halflings usually get. And a feat is huge! They definitely make better ranged characters than Humans. You may find them in the FRCS.

Okay, I think I have the concept figured out...

Aasimar (or Dark Elf) Cloistered Cleric 3/Warlock 4/Eldritch Disciple 5.

I'd be interested if I'd be able to buy off the +1 (or +2) level adjustment.

I'm also going to be taking one of the healing powers from ED that allows me to spend a turning attempt and change my 'zot' into a healin' zot. I will be healer, but with CC I'm gonna have some phat skillz too.
