WRT Shield Master, you only get the +2 to DEX saves if the effect only targets you (think Disintegrate). So, that part of it doesn't work against area of effect spells like what hit you. With that said, I think the last part of it works for any spell effect that requires a DEX save. So if Dent makes his DEX save, he can spend his reaction to not take any damage from the effect.

Those of us who saved took no damage, so alas it doesn't appear it does.

Edit: Sorry, realized this question was asking the other way. So yes, shield master sez:

• If you are subjected to an effect that allows you to make a Dexterity saving throw to take only half damage, you can use your reaction to take no damage if you succeed on the saving throw, interposing your shield between yourself and the source o f the effect.

I'll need Creamsteak to adjudicate whether Dent made his Dex save. Let me know, Creamsteak. It's taking me a massively long time to load pages this evening and I've grown too frustrated with my Internet to hassle flipping pages to look up Dent's RG sheet, the OOC, and the IC. I'm easy either way, if he took damage, no problem (I've already tagged him as down -24 hp in the IC and prone). If he didn't take that many hp worth of damage, let me know what he did suffer and I'll amend. Thanks, all, for the help and sorry for the bother.

I just looked up Earth Tremor, you only take damage/fall prone if you fail the save, so Shield Master unfortunately doesn't help there at all. You also got hit with a Shatter spell and passed the save, but that is unfortunately a CON save.

Giving in to a primal urge, Tolan stands over his fallen foe and screams defiance that shakes the very foundations of the earth. Then he turns to the ongoing struggle between the druid and priest and staggers forward, his face streaked with blood, sweat and tears.

"Aridha ..." he reaches out, his voice thick with pathos, "... I still don't know how I feel about you, because you never wrote your background." Then, shrugging with sudden ennui, he sits back and awaits the next turn.
