D&D 5E [OOC] A Light Hearted Princes of Elemental Evil Hack and Slash

Just running away with the IC for now so we keep forward momentum.
As far as nightfall, we do have two humans (counting Lars) so we may need to camp. If so, Tolan will suggest splitting up watch and during his turn he'll try to keep an eye on Lars without looking like he's watching him, and without looking like he's trying to pretend he's not looking. :D Basically trying to see what'll happen if the bandit thinks he can get away with something.

Haven't you ever killed anyone? The bodies just fade away a few minutes after you loot them.

Um, I guess leaving them out would attract wildlife, and thereby attention.
Burying them would take time.
Floating them downstream (I presume the river flows south) could have people coming upstream to find where they came from.

So . . . Jimmy Hoffa style? Weigh 'em down and chuck them in the water?

Y'all aren't thinking like bounty hunters.

Take the heads as proof, then bury the rest under rocks or in shallow graves.

I bet the folks at Summit Hill will be grateful their bandit problem has been solved. And with a live scapegoat they can use to save face with some public justice!

That's coin in the purse, friend.

Couldn't Arhida eat them in her current form?

Hmm... honestly, we don't really know enough about the area (OOC) to be able to make the call on what to do. Is there a central governing authority for the Dessarin Valley? If not, does each town manage law-keeping on their own? It may be that there were bounties out for these guys, but probably not in Womford, if they were coming and going there on the regular. Summit Hall is noted on the map as an abbey, so I don't know if they would really have anything setup for the purposes of justice. Maybe Beliard or Red Larch? I don't know...

I also kind of feel like we may be overthinking this a bit. Let's just gut them and sink their corpses (preferably away from the ship so it doesn't turn into a haunt for merrow of laceodons or something), then take Lars with us to Summit Hall. If they don't have an answer for what to do with him, we take him along. He could possibly make a good meat shield for an attack or two.

I like this idea of bringing the heads, and we can toss the corpes in the water or bury them. Lars will be doing the work anyways.

I think we should have Lars also bring the tomes to the Summit Hall. We would likely benefit more from the prestige of returning them and the other goods to their rightful owners and to collect a bounty or reward, than to sell them for a few gp.

If we don't find adequate information at Summit Hall, we can head to Beliard, or come back to Rivergard Keep.
