D&D 5E [OOC] A Light Hearted Princes of Elemental Evil Hack and Slash

Got it. I read the "each" as each spell instead of each character. Cors, I could've done the math to double check!

Thanks. I'll leave it at 75 gp. I'm feeling wonderfully lazy today and don't care to edit Dent's sheet again.

Done. I've edited Dent's character sheet to reflect a 75 gp contribution to Carradoc toward Leomund's tiny hut and haste. Dent's such a curmudgeon, though, so I totally want to rp his grudging gift of coin to his friend--if KS is game, that is.

Absolutely -- donation happily received. Thanks.

Also someone keeps typing "creamstreak" when my username (which I should probably change to my real name at some point) is "creamsteak". Not a big deal, but it makes me want to vomit when I read it.
That is I, and I stand corrected. Apologies.

Creamsteak, would you please take a look at find steed, PHB 240, and let me know what kinds of steeds might be available to Dent to summon? I'm in the process of preparing Dent's prepared spells as a result of his level up, and find steed is a new option (yay! 2nd-lvl spells!). My initial thought ran to a fiendish warhorse, but I'm wondering if flying steeds are or will be available in the future. Thanks.

EDIT: I must be feeling needy today, because I'd like you to also let me know what temple/s there is/are in Red Larch. Dent's planning to drag Romon to a temple for a medical examination. Hasn't occurred to Dent that he could just do it himself. Heh.

Hey guys,

I'd appreciate some advice because I'm a bit stuck with analysis paralysis.
I need to pick yet another cantrip because of the spell sniper feat (I will choose eldrich blast and since I already have it, I get to pick another cantrip and Thaliss already as 9: Mage hand, frostbite, shocking grasp, minor illusion eldrich blast, prestigitation, Guidance, vicious mockery & mold earth). I was thinking perhaps create bondfire for the control aspect, but it's much weaker than eldrich blast.

For the 1st level spell, perhaps ice knife or maybe feather fall.

The problem is that Thaliss' Eldrich Blast is already very potent (2 blasts of 1d10+5 each) and trups pretty much all the other cantrips & 1st level damage spells damage wize...

I was thinking feather fall because we'll end up going to the spire.

Thoughts and comments are much appreciated.
Thanks and cheers,

SG

Another caster able to cast feather fall would be good because we've got six characters in the party.

For the cantrip, I think it would be great for Thaliss to eschew DPR power and have something flavorful. I haven't seen create bonfire in play just yet, but it seems useful for defense. Is there something FUN you've had your eye on?

I agree that you don't need to look at a damage cantrip -- you have eldritch blast and a back-up.

I'd look to Dancing lights (which has combat applications) and (a personal favourite) Mending, which once you have I'll bet we can find dozens of applications for.

For first level -- Feather Fall was always one of my favourite spells in previous editions, but the group application in this edition has lot the "purity" the spell had for me in the past. In real life, I'd probably choose comprehend languages, but in game... I'm sure you'll find something useful.

Well, this being my 10th cantrip (the number almost seems absurd!), I picked the fun ones a while back. Prestidigitation and mold earth were for fun (who doesn't want to build a life-size sand castle ;-)

For number 10, I'd like something Thaliss can use at least once in a while...

I actually have a few back-ups: aside from EB, I have shocking grasp for melee, and vicious mockery/frostbite for dex and wis saves and useful effects.

I was indeed also considering mending, but Carradoc has it, so I wanted to avoid overlap. You've peaked my curiosity regarding dancing lights' combat application. What is it? It isn't obvious from reading the spell's description so I'm quite curious about it.

Also, since Thaliss will be able to cast comprehend languages as a ritual, I'd rather pick something else...

Ok, the feedback is much appreciated and I'm still leaning towards feather fall and create bondfire (the last one feels very warlocky!).
Cheers,

SG

If you've taken your fill of the published cantrips, you could homebrew one and ask for Creamsteak's input. Might be fun to invent something from the Illusion school.

It isn't obvious because it isn't there... That's my bad -- dopey headed confusion with Faerie Fire. But...

Suddenly summoning a man-sized being of light in the midst of a combat... I would think that at least someone would want to target it, wouldn't you?

:)
