D&D 5E [OOC] A Light Hearted Princes of Elemental Evil Hack and Slash

Creamsteak, would you please take a look at find steed, PHB 240, and let me know what kinds of steeds might be available to Dent to summon? I'm in the process of preparing Dent's prepared spells as a result of his level up, and find steed is a new option (yay! 2nd-lvl spells!). My initial thought ran to a fiendish warhorse, but I'm wondering if flying steeds are or will be available in the future. Thanks.

EDIT: I must be feeling needy today, because I'd like you to also let me know what temple/s there is/are in Red Larch. Dent's planning to drag Romon to a temple for a medical examination. Hasn't occurred to Dent that he could just do it himself. Heh.

Hrm... super minor spoilery warning...

[sblock=Spoiler]There may very well be flying mounts in the future.[/sblock]

Around Red Larch they mostly have beasts of burden. There are actually two different wagon shops in town (it's kinda like the town across state lines with like 15 car dealerships so people can avoid paying in-state sales tax).

You've also seen at least one person riding a crocodile. There may be some other exotic options out there.

Riding a crocodile! That puts into perspective the big ass crocodile at Riverguard or Riverkeep or whatever the fort on the river with Grimmjaw was called.

Could Dent summon the spirit of a flying steed of some sort using the find steed spell? By my read, whatever he summons isn't a "real" creature, it's a spirit being that he summons (let me know if you're reading it differently). I'm maybe kinda-sorta interested in having him summon a fiendish warhorse or a fiendish flying something-or-another. But that's very likely asking too much for a 5th-level paladin casting a 2nd-level spell. And while we might all want to get mundane mounts when we leave Red Larch, I was more posting the question about find steed to know what's possible for the future in terms of what Dent can and cannot summon. Would it help if I narrowed down the field by having a look at the MM and asking about particular beasts?

Okay! I am back.

And I've missed a TON. So I know I've been bandying about bringing a new character in...this might be a good time to do so, if the narrative is in an okay place. It would mean I could start fresh, which would mean I wouldn't have to pan back 5 pages to get back up to speed. :)

Welcome back Shayuri!

If you change characters, Aridha will need to give the motes back to the group. The mote of earth is actually part of the mission and we're supposed to give it back to the group.
Cheers,

SG

Hehe, she would at the very least pass it off to her replacement druid. :)

Not sure our characters would agree having a party treasure (and quest objective) given to a complete stranger...
In any case the two motes are fairly weak, so I don't think it should matter much for your new character.
Cheers,

SG

I'm okay with hand-waving the whole thing, personally. Light-hearted hack and slash and all that.

I'm leveled to 5 other than still trying to figure out what spell to take since I have 3rd level spells available now. I'm leaning towards Tongues as it would fit Damien's duplicity fairly well and shores up one of his biggest weaknesses as far as deception.

@Creamsteak Is ye olde equipment store open and can Damien find some studded leather armor? He's also going to purchase an empty scabbard for a rapier so he can summon his pact blade and just leave it there. Just let me know if I need to account for a cost for that...

ETA: Also, hafrogman has not been on for a little more than a week. Not sure if they are coming back.

Hey Creamsteak, these are Thaliss' purchases and changes to level 5. I'm assuming that inks to transcribe spells and material components to cast find familiar are available.

[sblock]Bonus feat: Spell sniper
- double spell range of spell that requires an attack roll
- Ranged spell attacks ignore all but full cover
- learn extra cantrip that requires an attack roll
(eldrich blast - already known so took create bondfire)

Note: Eldrich blast range now 240 feet.

Proficiency bonus becomes +3 (was +2)

HP increase by 1d6+1+3 = 8; new total = 43

add level in Sorcerer. Character now Warlock 3/Sorcerer 2.

Gain Font of Magic class feature and 2 sorcery points.
As a bonus action on your turn:
- convert spell solt to gain same number of sp as slotlevel
- Transform sp into slots: 2sp for level1 slot, 3 sp for level 2 slot

Extra 1st level spell known (featherfall)

Sorcerer spell slots become 3 1st level (was 2).

Wealth spent

333.56 gp acquired adventuring + 20gp already held = 353.56gp available

- 150 gp in rare inks to transcribe Comprehend Languages, Find Familiar and Tenser's Floating Disk from Carradoc into book of shadows

- 10 gp for casting of find familiar

- 20 gp 2x material components to cast find familiar in the future

- 1 gp for 20 pinches of powered silver and iron (for protection against evil and good spell material component)

- 1.5 gp file, iron rod and 5sp set aside to make powered silver and iron

- 100 gp in spare rare inks to transcribe 2 1st level ritual spells or 1 2nd level ritual spell during adventure

- 50 gp given to Carradoc

- 10 gp distributed to commoners that showed Thaliss proper defference during return to Red Larch

11.06 gp left
[/sblock]
Kobold Stew, Carradoc is getting 50gp of inks from Thaliss, instead of the 37.5 gp I mentioned earlier. I figured that the inks would be sold in 50gp increments, and it would make more sense for Thaliss to hand over one vial to Carradoc during their transcription party.
I'm targeting to have the complete character sheet updated by this evening.
Cheers,

SG
